So nothing to do with the fact that it isn't in season to grow crops, yet alone plant cannabis seeds, unless you have an indoor hydro system!

Just because you smoke your own body weight in the green stuff daily doesn’t mean that Anutin is your buddy..

He hates your guts just as much as he hates mine.

bob.

He doesnt hate your guts at all. You are like the stuff he steps in on the street and scrapes off: an incovenient, smelly annoyance. Most Thais of his social class thaink that way.

As well as guys here too I reckon.

Ha ha.  They will have to accept the decision!   Like it or not...

Anutin conducting a world first weed legal status?

Actually, he's obviously involved in the business and wants positive results for himself.....so who knows..maybe it'll come out ok.....but we'll probably never know!

The real issue is getting lost in the noise.

As Anutin himself says “Thailand will promote cannabis policies for medical purposes. There has never once been a moment that we would think about advocating people to use cannabis in terms of recreation – or use it in a way that it could irritate others.”

Given that medicinal weed is rated in all jurisdictions that I'm aware of as having a fraction of 1% THC, the future for stoners in Thailand will soon be at an end - as even Anutin says.

But whether it signals a return to the earlier level of criminilisation remains to be seen. Given that the laws on possession of small quantities of ICE have been relaxed (or maybe just discussed, I'm not sure which), maybe something similar will be considered for weed.

The businesses that went gungho into recreatioanal weed really should have known better.

Well, studying the impact of Cannabis was apparently concluded some years ago - when Anutin was Health Minister. Now, as Interior Minister, the very same person is doing a ...... study of impact?

Keep up the good work, the excellent choice of ministers and possibly some data recording. Next will be the convicted flour trader in charge of ..... naaahhh, don't let us get there!

  • Cannabis Advocates Plan Protest Against Drug Classification Change

Cannabis supporters are gearing up to protest the government's plan to classify cannabis as a narcotic drug. They vow to gather outside the Ministry of Public Health until solid scientific evidence supports the move.

Meanwhile, some farmers, who have been growing cannabis legally since its decriminalization in 2022, back the government's stance. They argue that an oversupply has caused prices to crash.

Prasitchai Nunual, from the Cannabis Future Network, insists that any decision by the ministry must be based on scientific proof of cannabis's benefits and risks compared to alcohol and cigarettes.

The ministry has 15 days to provide evidence to sway the pro-cannabis groups. If convinced, they'll accept the decision.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin hinted at allowing medical cannabis even after reclassification. The government promises to consider all views before the Narcotics Control Board makes the final call.

Supporting the government, Montri Yiamsung-noen reports that 90% of the farmland in their network lies idle due to plummeting prices.

Who's scientist? It's like an "expert"... there is always another expert who can take the other side of any debate.

If anyone to blame for this idiocy it is no other but Anutin

He pushed to legalize it without any safe guarding , proper thinking and planning

Now he is blaming foreigners operating illegally.

I am not a smoker and could not care either way, but this should have been properly studied and planned.

As much as all the pot heads are happy, do need to keep in mind, Thailand is the only place in SEA that has legalised it and Thailand is also a travel hub onto other countries.

Plenty of knobs who smoke in Thailand and take some with them on to their next destination, only to end up arrested for possession of an illegal substance.

On the other hand, you have hundreds if not thousands of people who have invested lots of money into opening shops but now will be forced to close down? who will compensate them?

In case of Pattaya, there is a shop literally on every corner, almost as bad as 7-11, once they forced to close, they will also be in breach of their leases, who will force landlords to refund? and who will compensate landlords for their losses?

Do they really want to go there? This could result in them having to outlaw alcohol and cigarettes once the study proves how dangerous and toxic they are for human consumption. But, go ahead. Knock yourself out. Then ban them both. You have my full support and approval.

It's a real bummer that the oversupply has caused weed prices to crash.

They just need the government to come up with a weed buying scheme where the government buys up all the excess weed at a fixed price and then everyone will be right as rain.

Scientists the World over always lean to the side with the biggest grants, money talks. You only have to look at all the false info about the covidiocy scam, and all the backtracking happening now to see that.

Or they can bring Yinglump back to champion it. Then after that store it in a moldy warehouse for 10 years and then feed it to the military.
