Hi everyone

We are wanting to get a renewal of our Thai 1 month tourist visas close to Kanchanaburi. On the map we note that there is a border crossing at Ban Bong Ti.

Can anyone please advise as to whether this is possible at this point? Can we cross to Myanmar for an hour or two with Australian passports no visa for Myanmar in the same way as in Laos and Cambodia?

Thanks for your help

So no one has any information on this crossing? Alternatively can anyone advise as to what telephone number that we could get some advice please?

Just noticed the pinned notice above with all the phone numbers, thanks George.

But that crossing is not mentioned under that name at least. Is there anyone on the forum from Kanchanaburi area that can offer any information please?

I have ascertained that this crossing is in fact NOT available for obtaining "upon arrival" visas into Thailand.

Word is though from Kanchanaburi Immigration that it will be available for that purpose in the future.

I would think that it could prove quite popular for people from Bangkok and other adjacent areas.

anyone got an update on the status of this border crossing for visa run purposes?

I went there a while ago, looked like a good place to stay away from.

It is not easy to find, you actually need to go to a place called Ban Bong Ti Bon, which is like a lower Bong-ti.

Whern I went there about 6 months ago. Border was closed, and they didn't seem to be in any interest in opening it.

Thre are no shops and not much else except an Immigration shed with one guy there who tells you to turn back.

So don't bother. I used to live in Suphanburi, and I had the same dilemma, so I sympathise with you.

Udon;

Go to Chom Chon just south of Kab Choeng, its about 100km further, very low key.

Normally its 10 minutes from parking your car to being in the duty free store.

I also think that gt-riders site is wrong, you cannot normally take a vehicle through Chom Chon - Osmasch, unless you are making a specific delivery, e.g. cement for the casino or fuel.

I have asked many times and got the same answer.

As an update, you now can drive your private car through the border in Surin.

I spoke to the Police there and you will need your Taibein Rot (Car Ownership Papers) and the Insurance and Tax stuff.

They will then let you go through. You need some form to give to the Cambodian Police on the other side.

Its the same procedure if you want to drive your car from Cambodia to Thailand.

I thought the rule there had changed as I have started to see more Cambodian registered card in Suin, other than UN cars
