According to the article:

appears to be a hybrid, something Ukraine is becoming expert on

Unprecedented resources mobilized by the Ukrainian forces have significantly amplified the devastation. An inside military source in Kyiv disclosed that over 100 drones were involved in the operation. Pro-Kremlin Telegram channels mentioned the possibility of a new "Palianytsia" missile drone, whose successful test was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky at the end of August. In contrast, Ukrainian site Defense Express leans towards the theory of a modified "Neptune" missile with a tripled explosive payload.

The likelihood is high that the strike was a hybrid attack, utilizing Ukrainian rocket drones and cruise missiles.

Early Wednesday morning, September 18, a series of powerful explosions obliterated a major ammunition depot near the town of Toropets in the Tver region. The hit depot, labeled Arsenal No. 107, housed 240 tons of ammunition and was situated 500 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border.

A fairly detailed video on the result of the strikes on the Toropets arsenal now that most of the smoke has finally cleared. Looks like first impressions were right. A lot of damage and a lot of munitions, including missiles and components, that are no longer a threat to Ukraine. The shear precision needed to strike the individual hardened bunkers in the complex is staggering.

Ukraine may be given private dispensation by the UK and US to fire long-range Storm Shadow missiles into Russia without making it public until the first one is fired.
Western diplomats are poised to sign off on the decision but could hold back from making an official announcement at the UN next week.
The Times understands there is wariness about publicising the move in advance to alert Russia.

New Poll with surprising results.

49% of Russians support withdrawal of troops from Ukraine, poll says

Nearly 50% of Russian people support withdrawing troops from Ukraine and negotiating for peace, even without achieving the Kremlin's military objectives, according to a joint survey conducted by independent pollsters ExtremeScan and Chronicles.

The figures represent a striking shift from the overwhelming support for the war indicated by past polls. A February survey from the Levada Center, an independent Russian polling organization, found that 77% of Russians supported the full-scale war in Ukraine.

According to polls conducted by ExtremeScan and Chronicles in September 2024, 49% of Russians support the immediate withdrawal of troops from Ukraine and peace talks with Kyiv, an increase of nearly 10% from the three previous polls held since February 2023.

When asked about Ukraine's incursion into Kursk Oblast, respondents said it was more important to oust Ukrainian troops from Russian territory than to seize more ground in eastern Ukraine.

that's rather good news which push Putin into a corner regarding his order to increase the army size, which he cannot do without mobilization, but a mobilization would endanger his grip on power.

The math behind Putin's order to increase Russian army strength by 180.000 to 1.5 million:

- since the last increase, the Russian army lost about 370.000 men.

- Putin wants to increase headcount by 180.000

Result: Russia needs to find 550.000 men. Very unrealistic without mobilization.

The Ukrainian army said it had hit a depot near the city of Tikhoretsk in Krasnodar, calling it one of Moscow's "three largest ammunition storage bases" important to the Russian army's logistics for its Ukraine invasion.

It also said it struck an arsenal in Tver region's Oktyabrsky village, resulting in a "fire and detonation".

The governor of the Krasnodar region, Veniamin Kondratyev, announced the evacuation of 1,200 people after a drone attack had caused a fire that "spread to explosive objects" near Tikhoretsk.

Or maybe blow up the missiles and ammo just lying around, and the secondary explosions take care of the hardened sites.
