Currently we have at least two threads about some beating in Soi 6 in Pattaya.

Allegedly two farangs misbehaved and a couple of guards beat them up.

In the comment to the article some of you suggest the police should take care of this. But would the Thai police do that?

Others think the misbehaving farangs got what they asked for.

What do you think?

For the purpose of this poll let's assume the farangs assaulted one of the girls in the bar and they didn't pay their (real) bill of a couple of thousand THB.

This is a general question, not just about that Soi 6 incident.

I have much more important things to think about! :whistling:

Well of course I voted the bar should give a Farang mug a hard beating.

I think many of those idiots on the other thread saying they got what they deserved will be eating a lot of humble pie, including you.

Assaulting girls and refusing to pay their bill.

Should have their teeth kicked out.

Let's see. That is why I started this poll, to get an idea about how others think.

And I am not interested to convince everybody that what I think it right and what they think is wrong. We have different opinions, that's fine.

You on the other hand made it clear that others, who don't think like you think, are idiots in your view. Interesting.

You and others made it quite clear you thought the guy's in the Soi 6 incident got what they deserved, based on hearsay and rumours.

You know what they say about opinions don't you....

As far as your inane poll goes, any one with an ounce of decency would pick the only sensible option.

IMO - in any such situation it is not for the security to take legal matters into their own hands.

Theoretically, they should hold 'anyone' (Thai or Foreign) who assaults another and the police should be consistent in their response - i.e. file charges of assault.

Realistically, assault a member of staff and consequences should be expected.

BUT...  what are the facts in these cases ?... Is the bill padded, is this why the foreigners are not paying the bill ?

Thus, up until the point of assault, who is in the wrong to begin with ?

A lot of this is potentially a grey area - dishonest bars, drunk guys responding to the dishonesty very poorly...  but what else can be done.

-----------

True story: A Thai friend when to one of the bars on Cowboy...   he was paying for his drinks, drink by drink.

When he got up to leave they gave him a bill... claiming he'd not paid for any of his drinks.

He argued of course, security were called and started to threaten him.

So, he showed his police badge !!...   (he was relatively senior at the time - Lt Col).. the issue dissolved very quickly.

This left me wondering what would happen if this were a foreigner...    they'd have to pay or face an attack by the guards.

And obviously you are that person with an ounce of decency who will tell us what the only correct sensible option is, correct? 555

Walking away and not paying is definitely not a solution.

I was told the tourist police sorts out these cases. But I don't know any instance when anybody ever involved the tourist police.

Karma would be guys causing trouble get a beating every time, eventually they would stop doing it

I think in Thailand karma works well.
