fitting a ceiling fan in a condo

Featured Replies

We have air con but it is not comfortable the condo is new and we live on floor 5 of 6 floors. We asked management if we could put a ceiling fan in and they said yes but the wiring has to be external. Of course this would not be beautiful so can anyone tell me if the wiring does have to be external

A few more details the room has four lights but there is no smoke alarm or sprinkler system so there is no problem going around said system

There's certainly nothing in the electrical regulations.

Do you own or are you renting?

Best bet would be to get the condo preferred "chang" (handyperson) or contractor to do the job to their requirements, then it can't be "wrong".

In reality your biggest issue will be to safely attach the fan to the structure, a couple of self-tappers in the suspended ceiling won't cut it.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

What about an oscillating floor stand type fan. Plug and go.
