Non-imm "O" 1 yr ME visa from Laos

Recommended Posts

Apparently the Thai Embassy website in Vientiane only offers a Non-Imm "O" visa (Thai marriage) for 90 day single entry.

Has anyone ever received a 1 yr ME from Vientiane?

Also, is the reservation system up and running for Savannakhet Th Consulate? Has anyone used it? Is there a limit of applicants per day?

I presume Sav. Is still processing Non-Imm "O" marriage for 1 yr ME with (seasoned or not?) funds.

Thanks for any intel.

400K THB in a Thai bank account for 2 months.

4. How long in advance can I schedule a visa appointment?
• You can schedule an appointment up to 14 days in advance.

And I just checked and for those 2 weeks all appointments are already booked solid.

You have to check the appointment site often to be able to book a slot.

So now it will be like a lottery if I can get a visa when needed! This means I better be off to Penang, or just cut my stays in Thailand from 5-6 months, to 3! Thailand..you lose! Savannakhet used to be such an OK place to go.

One would need to hit the site as soon as the next day becomes available - might be midnight, or maybe early in the morning.

Better if they had different calendars / slots for Tourist and "all others."

Have zero idea what you mean.

When Vientiane introduced appointments similar problem arose.

Reports in future will hopefully give direction.

Many folk use ME non O from Savannakhet so this is an issue..

I mean, if Tourist application-slots were separate from the others, those who need Non-Os and such would not be "que'd out" of a spot at 2 mins past midnight (per a post in another thread).

I hope you are correct that they find a way to solve the reported "all slots full" problem being reported.

It's a big problem for some folk.

One example is current thread where the guy is on typical oil/gas type roster

These guys ideal visa is ME Non O.

Most obtained these at Savannakhet. If the appointment system cannot be improved that's an issue.

Saigon appointments also well in advance (my understanding)

I had a look at Saigon appointments and looks straight forward and easy to get an appointment. They done the same as Svnkt last year changing to the appointment system and 3 day processing so seems to have sorted itself there.

Only issue the website states that you can only get the visa from there if your a Vietnamese resident, I have emailed to clarify.

He was meaning a ME Non O visa.

Has validity of one year allowing entries that grant 90 day permit

I must be getting confused here. I thought Sav was the only Laos consulate that did a one-year, multi entry, non-O visa, the other at Vien only did a 90 day non-O visa..😋

Maybe it has changed. Mine was on 20th April and my 400,000 had only been in the bank for a week. They still accepted it.

There have been varying reports with no consistency in the actual requirements.
It appears to be at the discretion of the clerk at the desk.

He seemed pretty happy when I said Multi Entry 5000 baht thank you. I did look through the threads and could see no reports of a change.

Hi guys, I am wondering if i can get a Non O ME based on Marriage at Vientiane or do i need to go to Savannakhet?

Savannakhet would not be a convenient option for me. Got all paperwork prepared and 400k thb in the bank ( money not been there for 2 months )

i do have the 400k in the bank but not for 2 months.

I received mine in April from Savannakhet. I had only deposited the 400k 2 weeks before I went but they did not seem to care. I am not sure if it has changed since then. If you have the 400k in the bank you can get a non o single entry and use your bank balance to extend it after 3 months to 12 months?.

When they first started doing the money-check at Savannakhet, they seemed not to enforce the 2-mo seasoning.  I have not seen a recent report where "no seasoning" policy was clarified by someone without it getting the visa, or being rejected - but it is "officially" needed.

When you say "extend it after 3 mo to 12 months" - at Immigration in Thailand?  Yes - and with all the required documents / rigamorole associated.   Having that visa-entry as a starting point would allow you to go directly to a 12-month extension.

A 12-mo "ME-Visa," however, would require going back to Savannakhet with a bank-statement showing the seasoned funds.

Are you sure about this Rob? from my knowledge can you apply every time on your 1 year non o ME on last 30 days of your 90 days stamps for a 1-year extension if you meet the requirements ( 400k 2 months / 40k monthly ) Maybe i am wrong so like to double check it as my plan was to extend during this 1 year ME

Yes, you can apply at immigration in Thailand for a 12-mo extension, on any of the entries, in the last 30-45 days (depending on the office), with 2-mo seasoned 400K.

Also, you can get a single Non-O with no money in Savannakhet.  Only the multiple-entry requires funds.

Yes he is correct.

You can obtain a 12 month extension of permission of stay.

If you are living ongoing in Thailand skip Savannakhet and do annual extensions of your permission of stay.
