Pattaya — A 33-year-old Thai woman died after she rear-ended her motorbike into a minivan stopped at an intersection in Pattaya in the early hours of Friday, June 14th.

The accident occurred at 4:36 AM at the Wat Bunkanchanaram Intersection in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. It prompted an immediate response from Pattaya police and emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found a yellow-plated minivan, driven by Mr. Kittiphong Hitmorn, 37, parked in the middle of the road. The minivan had minor damage to the rear bumper.

No excuse for not seeing the minivan, or apparently not wearing a helmet, but why had he stopped in the middle of the road ?

If you read it say minivan stopped at an intersection

Well of course I read it he should be in the left lane, especially with no other traffic around, so WHY was he stopped in the MIDDLE of the road ?

Well I presumed he was stopped at the 'junction' where he was stopped, but that now looks like just a U-Turn place. my bad.

Looks pretty clear to me, from the photo, and the original story...."The minivan driver, Mr. Kittiphong, told police that he was waiting for the traffic light to turn green"

The lights are RED immediately above the van, hence the photo I handily provided.

Perhaps maybe the vehicles stopped in front of the van, also waiting for the light?  Or maybe a vehicle was making a turn in front of the van requiring the driver to stop?

Note the van driver remained at the scene.

Because of traffic lights ahead, do you think?

If you bothered to read the full report where it is explained, you'd know.

And said intersection, daylight with greens.

Can you work out which lights the van is at... or do you need more assistance ?

Well done.

Yes, a common sight, came face to face with a woman on her phone at a blind sharp bend last night..... and then at my side 3 adults and a baby on a motorcycle..... these people all have death wishes.

People are going to be killed in the future at the Dolphin roundabout. The morons on motor cycles speed down Naklua Road and then swerve sharp right. Not only are they on the wrong side of the road, in certain cases the oncoming traffic simply wouldn't see them. This started a few years ago when the roundabout was blocked off. Now all vehicles even motor bikes are supposed to go up North Road and do a U turn at the rear of Terminal 21. May I add many times a few BIB's are sitting down over the road under a tree. It happens just outside the entrance to the Dusit Thani Hotel.
