You teally can't fix stupid!

Some people has a sense of empowerment when they have huge amount of cash on their person . Nothing thrill them more than a big bulge in their pockets.  More like an aphrodisiac to their male ego.  More so if they were able to offer a glimpse of their fat wallet to the ladies nonchalantly….a lady once told me nothing make her climax more than a glimpse of the stack of dollar bills flicking in front of her face while making love.

Hookers ripped off a tourist in Pattaya? African hookers? I'm shocked and dismayed...

The main reason I think this is total rubbish, is who in their right mind would make this public.

Difficult to believe that so many people are clueless about Canadian people.

There are vitually no "original" Canadians!

Less than 5% of the population claim to be "indigenous", meaning that 95% of Canadians are from other countries, and other parts of the world!

You seem to be clueless about the history of Canada and the Americas in general.

Ethnic Europeans fought and died to create all the countries in the what we now call the Americas.

Prior to the Europeans arriving in the Americas, there were multiple warring, enslaving, cannibalizing, roaming tribes which were descendants of far north-east Asian(Siberian) tribes who had colonized various parts of the americas via ice bridges connecting the continents at the time.

Ethnic Europeans eventually conquered the various Siberian tribes and then created all the countries of the Americas.

They united and freed the Siberian tribes, ending their perpetual wars, and often provided them with distinct “reservations” that they could govern on their own.

As such, Ethnic Europeans(and direct descendants of the Siberian tribes) are the only people who can be called Canadians in Canada.

All others are simply foreigners who have somehow been granted a Canadian travel document such as a passport, but they are NOT Canadians.

Same applies to all the other countries of the Americas.

You started too late with your history lesson.

We're all Africans, but that all happened long after we were pond scum.

Hehehe. Your right.

Took a few years before we could organize ourselves into tribes and then countries.

Not all the same..... some use a master key. Some even require a computer connection  to open them. Seen it done. I guess one could test 9999 or 0000 or even 1234. Some require 6 characters. You may get locked out for a spell.

Hard to drop them if they are securely fixed to the wall.

They are usually in the wardrobe and rarely fixed to anything. Many of the staff often know the manager's code as customers are always locking themselves out. This resulted in me losing 2,000 baht at one hotel. The thief, probably the room cleaner, took 2,000 of the 14,000 I had in my bag in the safe but I did not notice until I'd left the hotel.

I had many holidays in Pattaya prior to getting married here, I never used a safe in a rented room. I kept my valuables to a minimum before I left my home. I always had enough pocket money to pay for a taxi to Pattaya. Next morning I planned my agenda and lived off my debit card. Seriously guys would you trust a total stranger with your valuables in your country? If you must use a safe then you might as well leave the door open.

Seriously?  You'd travel halfway around the world with less than $3,000 USD in cash?   Especially as a tourist.

What happens if comms are down (for a myriad of reasons), or if your 2FA phone gets lost or stolen or damaged?  Or your wallet gets filched on the MRT with all your credit and debit cards in it?  It'll take days to clear up that mess and that can get mighty hungry, even if you've paid hotels in advance.  With my banks back home, even longer if it happens on a Friday because they won't be open until Monday, even the phone number on the cards.

I generally keep $4,900 USD separate from my wallet, because $5K is the non-report limit for some of the countries I visit.  Sometimes, I'll go for years between dipping into it.  But when I needed it, I needed it. Usually because the bank "detected unusual card use" and 2FA didn't go through, for SIM issues.

I lived in Thailand for 10 years and never kept more than 5000 baht in my condo
I went on holidays all over the world only travelling with credit cards, and these days even easier with the smart phone.  Welcome to 2024 .

Maybe you are talking about the "good" old days.

If I really have to pay for a lady I just visit the nearest ATM. Keeping big cash inside your room is a big no no anywhere in the world.

And 90k baht is at least 4 months salary in Thailand.

As I was born there, and learnt Canadian history in school, I think it is you who are clueless, honestly, because you are completely going off topic, I was only responding to those who said this guy is not a Canadian, by quoting FACTS that 95% of Canadian are from other countries.

If you want to give a history lesson, please also mention that these "ethnic europeans" you speak of, massacred the vast majority of "real" Canadians, using modern weapons (of the day) against sticks and spears, and then finished them off with providing very low cost alcohol in their "reservations" where they were imprisoned.

I do not understand your post at all, or how it applies to this guy who was robbed, and who IS a Canadian in every sense of the word.

wow. You really have no clue about the pre-Canada history and the country you were born in.

Re-read my post. All facts.

Research it yourself and come back when you want to discuss it like an adult.

The guy in the news story is either a Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Indian, who happens to also hold a Canada travel document. He is by no means a Canadian, and never will be.

Strange.. all the ones bar one have been well secured, usually to the back of the wardrobe. The one I had issue with seemed to have become loose... like many plumbing fixtures and wall outlets do. An over-ride code is a weak feature....

Opening in the presence of a room guest is real dumb......
