Former Prime Minister Somchai shares his secret to success in Senate race

Former Prime Minister of Thailand, Somchai Wongsawat, has attributed his success in getting to the final of the Senate election to the continuous support from his wife. He arrived at the Impact Arena in Mueang Thong Thani to participate in the election, during which he clarified misconceptions that he was already selected to head the next Senate. Rather, he explained, he was running in the administration and security group, which is made up of former government employees.

Somchai started his political journey in Chiang Mai, where he was successful at the district and provincial levels. He admitted that the competition was intense in his group and that the backing from his peers was crucial to his triumph.

When asked if he would run for the position of Senate speaker, Somchai said he hadn't put it into consideration. He expressed sincere thanks to his wife, Yaowapa Wongsawat, for staying by his side during the campaign period. He also dismissed the idea that he was reliant on his brother-in-law, ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, for emotional encouragement.

When pushed on his possible aspirations to be Senate speaker, Somchai remained reserved, "I can't say now, let me be elected first."

Another relative of Thaksin, the man who is out of jail under the condition that he doesn't meddle in politics.

Sad, really sad.

A complete fraud. The word election is only valid in that the selected elect the final selection. One wonders just how much money has

changed hands.
