here's the old girl, boy is she glimmering today

I see you are either 3 days ahead of all of us, or a month behind... It's not a very popular model for fakes, though, most go after Submariner or Daytona, though.

Yep, because it's not a fake, it's genuine.

Personally, I find Rolex watches to be ugly and smacks of east-end lads got rich....

I have an antique half-hunter pocket watch. About $20,000 and wearing such a pocket watch states my character > titled ancestry, educated, well-spoken, quiet confidence 🙂

I bought my genuine Rolex Date just at MBK last week. 2000 Baht.   So probably no real problem wearing it around Bangkok...

Given it's Date Just, at least you could set it to correct date and take another shot. So we know the photo is real also.

Yes, everyone assumes that the Rolex on your arm that you are so proud of, is fake and not worth the 300 baht you paid for it. A ladyboy might steal it if you take her back to your room.

Since I got a girlfriend on the weekend I've got no need for ladyboys.

Plus mine doesn't look fake

Mine certainly isn't a fake, I could buy a house in Thailand with the price of mine 🙂

Only one house?

What's the point of having a Rolex ,so when you go anywhere ,you have to

ask will it be safe wearing it ? ,

The 15 quid watch I bought off Ebay UK ,is still going strong after 5 + years,

only needed batteries , and no one is going to bother stealing it, I can wear

it anywhere ,no problem ,and I don't need to impress anyone ....

Maybe my eyes are not up to the mark today - I don't see any glimmer on this.

Yes its a proven trick for the less attractive men to overcompensate in other areas

Is this post something like that?

An overcompensating effort in another area?

Bob, I wouldn't wear the Rolex. Roleks, maybe, but not Rolex. Even the ladies in 7-11 know what they are. Three of them could gang up and beat the tar out of you. If you want understated elegance at around the same price point, wear the Audemars Piguet.

Or opt for the Piaget or Richard Mille. Not as pedestrian as a Rolex, so you'll feel better about your wealth, and no one will be the wiser.

Quiet luxury is the way old money goes about life. No logos, nothing too ostentatious. You know how much you've got; no need for anyone else to know.

Thanks for the homology lesson friend.

I'm totally with you on quiet luxury; it's why I bought 8 versache shirts when I sold my business

It's Versace, and they are nothing special.

If you want to play the bon vivant, learn the names of real quality things. Brioni, Stefano Ricci, not big chain store, wildly marked up stuff like Versace, who goes after the nouveau riche and posseurs..

You end up coming across more of a troll than you are.

Others buy yachts or ranches in Brasil when they sell their business. You bought eight t-shirts. It must have been a small business, I guess 🙂

8 shirts, a Ford Raptor, 2 investment properties in Sydney, a $900 suit and first class flights to Bangkok.

Not a bad haul while I decide what to spend on next

Rubbish, this is a one of a kind time piece, no one I know has one.

If it really was a unique, one of a kind, watch, you would have said, "No one else has one", not "No one I know has one".   Which model is it and what is unique about it?

Per the title, I need to make a trip to Bangkok later in the week for an appointment and sort a few matters out. Will I be safe wearing my Rolex? I plan to stay the night and will probably end up at a couple of bars? Should I wear my Rolex and will I be safe from pickpocketers / gangs or should I leave it in my hotel safe?

And a note; can I ask posters please keep responses civil and informative?
