Pattaya Mayor Calls for Road Painting at Night to Ease Daytime Traffic

Mayor Poramase Ngamphichet of Pattaya implemented a directive to repaint road markings and traffic symbols on Sukhumvit Road. The initiative, carried out on the night of July 10, 2024, primarily aimed to reduce traffic issues during the day.

 

Officials noticed work on the markings and symbols near the Pattaya Central Underpass on Sukhumvit Road. The mayor orchestrated this plan to enhance visibility for drivers, thereby cutting down on road accidents.

 

More preferably, Mr. Poramase had the work executed at night due to less traffic, minimizing road disruptions. This repainting is part of a large scale effort by the Pattaya administration to boost road safety and smoothen traffic flow across the city, reported by The Pattaya News.

What happens when it floods or cars are stationary on the road markings so they are not visible?

About time if it did happen at night -  on a Friday about 2/3 weeks ago coming back into Pattaya wondered why Pattaya Klang was so slow - they were doing the markings literally just past the BigC Extra lights going south. So one and a bit lanes completely closed off at 4.30ish.......madness. And saw it again I think the following week going the other way at the Foodland lights similar time.

Drivers must revert to maritime rules and, if foreigners, take on a Thai pilot to steer them.

Graffiti gets more attention here than road markings!

Especially on a long white wall in Bangkok.

waste of money.  Since when has the average Thai driver paid ANY attention to road traffic signs/symbols or markings.  It would be a different story if the town decided to form a police force.

Agreed - looks like traffic can get through.....

The question really is how quickly the flooding dissipates. Unfortunately it is probably almost impossible to stop it completely without bulldozing the whole city and starting afresh.......
