Cannabis Rollback Causes Rift in Thailand's Ruling Coalition:

The Pheu Thai party's push to reclassify cannabis as a narcotic in Thailand has created a rift with its coalition partner Bhumjaithai, which spearheaded its decriminalization. The Ministry of Public Health recommended placing cannabis back on the Category 5 controlled substances list, following a public hearing with 80% support for reclassification. Bhumjaithai leader Anutin Charnvirakul opposes the move, arguing it could harm investor confidence and economic progress. The issue remains contentious, with industry stakeholders protesting and advocating for further research on cannabis.

If the Bhumjaithai party managed to get a majority in the senate as was reported they'll beable to stop this in it's tracks. Part of a plan maybe???

Perhaps the Pheu Thai party should explain where they will find tax revenue to offset the money they collect from the ganja sales and associated VAT. If not, the financial situation in Thailand will likely get worse and the sanctimonious politicians won't understand what they have done to themselves.

i think the problem right now is that the gvt actually isnt collecting taxes on weed. if it were MAYBEEEE it would change its mind. however, there is a bull [sh_t] in the china shop who is known as taxsh_t shi_tawat. as long as he is there alcohol will be monopolized and soon there will be the much more addictive casinos. as long as thailand is ruled by despots there is no hope

Anytime I buy from a licensed ganja shop, I pay 7% VAT which goes straight to the government. Additionally, shops have to buy permits and license fees which go back to the government. A lot of revenue is being generated by marijuana trade.

Go to Khoa San in Bangkok on any evening and look at the people buying an evening high. There is a lot of money changing hands and Srettha is getting his cut.

I agree 100% with your last sentence. Thailand is a circus run by clowns.
