There s obvious cultural differences. My welfare is of importance to her. One thing that endears Mrs Nik to me is that she always takes good care of me, even when were not talking. Whatever the state of play, there s a good meal on the table and a clean house.

From 1977 always worked overseas and had a fondness for Asia, my UK ex loved the lifestyle she had when I where overseas hating me disrupting her routine when on leave.  Became a tax exile after 2007, built a home via a Thai company 2011, met the future wife same year I retired in 2015, when my son came out for the wedding he remarked:

"Great to see you smile Dad, not seen you like that in years"

That is what makes my Thai wife so special, her caring attitude which makes me feel needed.

I think the question is quite a broad one and depends on several factors.

 

when I chose a wife (Mrs. Smith) there were certain criteria that the successful candidate had to fulfill before she even stood a chance...

 

they were : 

 

1. Speaks good English.

2. Well educated (Master degree/phd)

3. Has a good, stable job.

4. No previous children from any relationships.

5. Has never worked in a bar.

6. Likes to have a laugh

7. Doesn't mind splitting the bill when we go out (or paying it in full herself)

8. Family aren't on the take (they have never asked me for a penny to this day).

9. No crazy knife wielding brothers or cousins lurking around the corner.

10. Loves to travel.

***(Bonus Points - Doesn't mind me sleeping around with other women/is a good cook)***

 

Those were my (albeit rather selective) criteria for a woman to have the chance at becoming Mrs Smith.

I found mine way back when and we have been married for years.

 

I can say that, on the whole, Mrs. Smith is an amazing wife and she is the reason why I am still here.

She has her faults, but don't we all?

For some it is Easier to meet a Thai womans expectations? Not for everyone, since som Thai women already have high expectations even before the met an western looking for a young wife.
