Could you be close-friends w/anyone Unable to Appreciate: Black Coffee?

Recommended Posts

I think we have to at least try to make an effort to maintain some standards when it comes to ideas about posts on this forum.

This is certainly one of the most trite and silly that I've seen in quite some time, and the real question that comes to mind is why would anyone want to be friendly with someone who was intolerant of someone who didn't drink black coffee? Ask yourself that. Intolerance of habits of friends is so uppealing.

Not drinking black coffee is not the Topic!

It is the inability to appreciate Sarah Vaughan's music which is the characteristic that I would find difficult to accept in any friend of mine.

And, this is the question posed in the Topic: Could you be close friends with someone who could not?

It really annoys me when I order black coffee that they leave 25 percent air so I have to say no room for milk and even then they usually ignore it.

This is just another example of downsizing.

Consider yourself fortunate that they did not bring you a demitasse, and then leave it half empty.

I thought that you were a half-full kind of person.

Black is black

I want my coffee back

It's earl grey, it's earl grey

Since my coffee went away, oh oh

What can I do

'Cause I-I-I-I-I

I'm feelin' thirsy

If I had my way, my coffee would be black today

There is no single American culture.

There are American cultures of different periods in American history.

In addition, I have resided outside America for most of my life, and so the cultures that have shaped my preferences are not the same for those who have remained in the American culture of the 50s, as it has continued to evolve until present day.

Culture ..    found in yogurt and unfortunatley between your toes

I prefer Ella, Aretha, Muddy and Hendrix,   oh.... and  Yo-Yo Ma

and to go off topic,,  Double Espresso

and a suggestion ..    sounds like you would fit in living in San Franciso   now there's culture !

That music is atrocious.

This is why America is going to the dogs.

But, really, is it the cause?

I think not.

The origin of all bad music in the USA is the prison system, and the military-industrial-congressional complex, plus the legacy of American slavery which lasted up until the late 1960s, which is when white slavery became more dominant in American society.

Just curious:

Has anyone yet discovered the grammatical error in Black Coffee?

Vaughan sings.....

"I walk the floor, and wipes the door."

This is why I love Black Coffee.

Her music is ABOMINABLE...., at least compared to any great Jazz Singer like Sarah or Ella.

In fact, rather than listen to a minute of this Alicia babe, I would far better dig Francis Scott Key.

No coffee, no tea, no alcohol and I'm doing well.

But a sweet tooth for occassional Starbuck's hot chocolate with whip cream.

Why all the comments about drinks preferences on a, clearly, music-related thread?

Although the Chinese believe that tea drinking is healthy, I am not convinced.

Even if the caffeine in tea is not unhealthy, I still believe that one should not imbibe, if possible.

It's impossible to become addicted to the caffeine in coffee or tea, but this is not the point of my concern.

Caffeine does raise blood pressure. Also, caffeine can interfere with normal sleep pattern.

Therefore, most likely, caffeine is a risk to optimal health.

Yet, as for me, I believe it's worth the risk.

I like to drink coffee, too.

But the risk of coffee drinking, for me at least...

I don't like the aromatic properties, flavonoids, or whatever, to alter the aroma of my urine.

Aroma of coffee should be in the cup, and not in the urinal.

This is my belief.

Speaking of Black Coffee...

Do you recall the film..

Donnie DARKo, and the GIANT Rabbit?

Must be one of everybody's favorite films, I would think.

It's OK.

Stay Calm.

In fact, a bit of AMBIGUITY is always welcome.

Some ambiguity, in my view, should be designed into all Farang-Pub Topics on TV.

Dear Folks,

So much of music appreciation is culturally based, and perhaps even related to one's intellect, that I do wonder how anyone could manage to be close friends with someone unable to appreciate BLACK COFFEE.

Here is what I mean:

During recent decades most of us have suffered under the deluge of Ghetto Rap Music flooding our world.

Where did this Ghetto Black Music actually come from?

The swamp?

There was a time, not long ago, when Black Music was just about the only kind of jazz that I could listen to.

And, I would not usually associate with, or befriend, those who were unable to appreciate black music.

Even the Blues Brothers loved Black Music.

But, I am not talking about the Blues Brother Type of Black Music.

Because, the Black Music that was truly most special was the Black Music produced in the 30s, up until the 60s, and it had to be jazz, too.

I could not be close friends with anyone unable to appreciate the beauty of Sarah's voice.

And, these days, with the immense cultural shift that has happened in America during the past five decades, is the ability to appreciate Sarah's voice a lost art, and something not accessible to the youth of today?

There is really no hope for Mankind, if this be true.

Now, maybe,

Back to listening to Sarah on my sound system, or..

I mean my computer with 11 speakers attached.

Best regards,

Gamma

This is not meant to be racist, but in Jazz music, I am not a fan, don't get me wrong, the Jazz Musicians are amongst the best, but at times it is just so boring. but in to Pop music then the best singers are white.

Look at Jo Stafford, she could sing anything and was much more versatile and better than any black female singer.

Now tell me any better black singers or white for that matter, than Elvis, Roy Orbison or Gene Pitney.

Jo Stafford was probably the best female singer ever, I never heard her in her heyday, but have sure heard a lot of her since.

Not my headline but, regardless of that, it reads "Black Coffee", not "black coffee".
