Thai man condemned for using free cafe WiFi to watch porn - video
As isolated behavior perhaps... but he was also... .. leering at girls and women, which can be an act of sexual harassment. .. This was not a one off, he was noticed in 'other cafes' behaving the same. I suspect the behavior was more an issue than what he was watching, but perhaps the what he was watching was the final straw. Erm... thats a bit naive, even though porn is officially banned in Thailand, so are many thing, gambling etc... yet porn is as rife and accessible here as it is anywhere else... Even guys in Thai Parliament have been caught watching porn !!!.. I'm not sure what you are getting at with the pillow. --------- Perhaps this is a storm in a tea-cup and the cafe owner over-reacted and is rather woke, as you pointed out... Or, this is an issue of concern and young girls in the area are at risk... ... Had the news been different and his guy sexually assaults a young student on her way home from the cafe... many would argue that the warning signals were there and why did no one do something about this... Its kind of a no-win situation - but it seems the cafe owner did the right thing, she wants to protect the other customers and she has every right to, its her own shop. -

Thailand Advocates Innovative Tax Strategy for Low-Income Earners
Finance Secondary Secretary Lavaron Sangsnit supports a bold negative income tax (NIT) scheme that provides financial support or welfare payments to workers whose earnings fall below a specified level. This initiative, popularly known as "workfare," is designed to encourage employment while providing essential monetary aid. Lavaron asserts that the NIT system encourages people to remain in their jobs by ensuring state welfare payments if their earnings don’t meet the minimum requirement. He says, for those earning less than the set minimum, the government will top up their wage to meet the threshold. For those out of work, the state might provide some help, but it won't be as substantial as the aid granted to those who have jobs, according to Lavaron. He made it clear that this concept is not about simple welfare but workfare, implying recipients need to work to get increased government benefits. Lavaron believes that introducing the NIT scheme could cut state welfare costs and remove overlapping in the current welfare system, which includes about 20 plans such as the state welfare card, costing up to 50 billion baht per year. To be eligible for workfare, individuals would have to submit their yearly personal income tax forms to the Revenue Department to confirm their income eligibility. As a person's income increases, the state would provide extra support in a stage known as "phase in." Once someone's earnings reach a certain mark, the state support rate becomes stable. If the income exceeds the minimum limit, the government stops its support. The NIT concept was first suggested by the Fiscal Policy Office ten years ago. Unlike classic welfare, where people might get state benefits without working, NIT requires participants to work and be part of the tax system. Lavaron pointed out that the government's spending on hard-to-reduce items has been constantly growing. In fiscal 2023, these expenses totalled 2.13 trillion baht, making up 67.2% of the government's budget, rising from 65.8% in fiscal 2022. This increase is the result of spending on debt repayment, commitments, and increasing welfare costs for public personnel and senior citizens. The proportion of spending on wages, contributions, and compensation for public workers dropped slightly from 26.2% of the budget in fiscal 2022 to 25.7% in 2023. Do You Believe: Next year, and the next, will be HOTTER than 2024?
I always research things. The media lies to scare people. Been 18 years since the Gore movie. 18 years of lies. -

Nope, got grilled on just 1st border run in my life. after 90days in the country this year. 3 friends were grilled the same, 2 weeks later. Stayed same 90 days this year. Warned them to have ticket back home - they did, were allowed in 20 minutes later. I spent 3h at IO. -

Trump, Harris Neck and Neck in NYT Poll
And I think if it's a draw she wins because the Trump hatred factor is powerful. 10 million women more than men voted in the last election and Trump is polling 17% lower than Harris with women. Trump needs that gap to narrow, and he needs to move the needle with ADOS. -

Any one doing the OMAD diet ( One Meal a Day )
I’ve tried the OMAD diet for a while, and it worked pretty well for me. I found that eating just one big meal a day helped with weight management and gave me more energy. I paired it with regular workouts, and it made a difference. I also used steroids for a short time, which really helped with muscle recovery and overall fitness. It’s key to find what works for you and stick with it. Just listen to your body and adjust as needed! -

Must Read Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
While things are generally behind the times, tax authorities are generally getting access to big data. They will be able to run algorithms that see immigration records and transfers in and out of the country, spending patterns etc (especially looking forward to digital ledgers / currencies) and will be easy for them to track all this. -

Destination Thailand Visa Gains Popularity Among Expats
No please read carefully again submitted 28 Aug, got slip to wait until 04 Sep (5 business days + weekend = 1 week) 2. Yes they are greedy. 2B tickets to HCMC were more expensive, I was in P-P before in 2017 making TV, knew the area, was easier for me. 3. Can't say, there are no requirements on the P-P website. if it is at least 2 weeks I think you'd be fine, for a soft-power (medical/classes/festival). Mine were sitting in the account from November 2023.- 1

Trump, Harris Neck and Neck in NYT Poll
According to DNC "insiders" voters reaction to the Harris/Walz interview was poor. The problem for the DNC is that Kamala is fundamentally a sanctimonious and dislikeable person. They have a new Bidenesque problem. She does well enough in front of a teleprompter, useless in the moment. So like Biden, they are trying the Basement campaign strategy. It worked for him. The DNC are genuinely worried about tomorrow's debate. They really could do without a "you'd be in jail" moment, and gawd forbid a Bidel-level mumblethon. And she's known for that. Something to do with "unburdened" or something like that. Two things have Dems worried. The closed mike system is designed to shut Trump up. It doesn't help Kamala's oft used "I'm talking" trope. But here's the real worry - if Kamala goes after Trump's character she's opening the door to crushing rebuttal. If I were her I would stick to policy alone and not mention Trump's character. Trump is a brutal debater. Kamala has given him plenty to attack. If she escapes this with a draw she'll likely win the election. It's hers to lose. -

Forgot to cancel my non-b visa extension
MANY others have experienced this. You are far from alone. You need to show the termination-paperwork from the school. They just need to write a letter saying "Person (you) stopped working here on Feb 26, 2024," on their letterhead. The 500 per-day referenced by a post above, is if for days remaining in-country after the termination-date while on your non-B extension-of-stay. As long as immigration stamped you in on your Tourist Visa (you did not have a re-entry permit for your Non-B extension), the fine could be no more than 500 Baht for 1-day. -

Air conditioner is dripping water, is that normal?
Look at this pic from a previous post. As I understood the condensation comes out from the indsode air we are cooling and de-humidifying, and is channeled outside by the tube or pipe. I have moved into a rental years before that was leaking inside. Of course it had been all gummed up with scum and mold. I get my AC cleaned as frequently as needed to avoid such issues. My main Mitsubish in Chiang Mai has been sitting on a balcony for near 16 years. No maintenance other than cleaning the internal unit. Ice cold, no inside leaks. I hear Daikin is good too. -

That's why it always makes sense to research things instead of listening to others opinions. Some things are scientific facts and some are opinions made by those in denial, or because Joe at the bar told them.- 1
