The dross that England have imported would be better off in Thailand.Because in the LOS they are not allowed to work which is just the reason they go to the UK in the first place. Most of em wouldn't work in an iron lung the lazy baastards.

The number of immigrants in Thailand is more than in England. There are around 5 million immigrants living in Thailand.

But how many of them are not contributing to the Thai economy? I bet that 99% of Western immigrants are.

Perhaps Thailand does not feel obliged to pay a salary for not destroying their civilisation.

They succeeded where others have failed.

One year after the boat people crisis on the Indian Ocean, the number of Rohingya Muslims and other people fleeing Myanmar and Bangladesh by sea fell by 96 percent, in large part because of Thailand’s crackdown on human trafficking syndicates, a United Nations official said last week.

Go to the hills above Mae Hong Son. There are villages of migrant Kuomintang soldiers who fled the communists in the 60s and sought asylum here. I met members of a Vietnamese enclave in Suphanburi who are not allowed to leave a specific area. They came seeking asylum from the communists.

Because the don't get asylum, so the so-called asylum seekers heads for better destinations, whenever possible for them.

There are many refugee camps inside Thailand housing the large population of Myanmar nationals feeling the ongoing civil war. They were given housing and food by the UN hopefully until their country become peaceful again.

Unfortunately, peace never come to Myanmar and many are still living in those camps for generations.

Refugee camps with people from neighboring states makes some sense.

Travelling half the world passing loads of safe countries to find (shop) for the best, and ask for asylum, makes no sense.

genuine question.

why is thailand not overflowing with asylum seekers?

why are thai hotels not full of migrants that came over on boats?

I mean, the weather is warmer here than in the UK isn't it? why would anyone want to claim asylum in a country that rains 300 days a year...

does anyone know why Thailand is not currently full of Asylum Seekers seeking to relocate permanently in Thailand without any money in the bank?

thanks.

bob.

Because unlike the UK, Europe, and the US - Thailand doesn't offer the same "incentives" to come and live off the Thai Taxpayer like they do in the West.

Also, migrants would be competing against the Thai labor force which is already highly protected under Thailands regulatory scheme. Thai authorities and politicians are all to familiar with how Thai citizens would take that. As in, it would go over like a fart in Church...

Last, the rape, violence, and mass protest you see being perpetrated by migrants in many countrys would receive a very different, and imo highly reflexive response in Thailand compared to what you are seeing in the West. Again, Thai authorities and politicians have enough drama without importing more.

Thailand is not signatory to the refugee agreements. It does not recognise asylum seekers as defined by those agreements, although has and does provide sanctuary for those fleeing war in neighboring counties.
