How Can I Obtain Cat8 cable in Thailand? But must be reliable!

Recommended Posts

Dear Folks,

I need to string a few wires between my computers located in different rooms.

The labor cost to install just a single cable is probably higher than the cost of any cable (drilling through concrete and brick will be required, as well as some climbing into HOT crawlspaces).

Therefore, I will select Cat8.

But, I know not where to purchase the highest quality Cat8 cable for LAN Ethernet.

Many years ago, I chose to install the best cable available at the time.

But now, those cables are garbage.

This is why, since labor cost is high, relative to the cost of the cable, I will always choose the highest quality cable for relatively short runs, up to 30 meters for any single cable.

Therefore, I ask you:  Where in Thailand can I find RELIABLE cable which will meet my requirements?

I will go with Cat8.

NO!!!!

I will not buy from Lazada....HAHAHAHA......

I need a reliable supplier.

Where should I go?

Thank you.

Gamma

Note:  Cat8 is just better because....MORE CATS....Right?

Anyway....

For sure....

I DO love cats!

And, EIGHT cats are better than one....!!!!

You have the tooling to terminate or you want pre-termimated ?

Obviously....

I am just seeking very reliable cable.

I will do the rest.

(I would not buy the garbage plugs.  I will buy my own.  I just need the cable, is all....)

And, the same supplier that sells me the cable will sell me reliable connectors.....

Try this supplier.

UGREEN (NW153) Cat 8 RJ45 40Gbps 2000Mhz High Speed Ethernet Network Cable - Ugreen Thailand

But chances are they probably bought the stuff from China on Lazada. :coffee1:

In the past, I bought cable from UGREEN (in China), but this is just a trading company....as far as I know...but could be mistaken, of course.

You're going to extreme for a domestic installation.

No need to buy the ducks nuts for home.

I love tools.

I once had a crimping tool.

But, I will not again buy one.

You are correct.

I will get the installer to do the crimping.

I just need the most reliable cable.....

did you hear about the magic of WIFI?

I prefer to reduce latency using Ethernet.

Also, WIFI suffers from signal interference from other local WIFI users.

Also, Ethernet is more secure.

And, faster transmission speeds than WIFI, even if I had a router/modem that is faster than 1Gbps, which I do not.

Also, I love the LOOKS of these colored cables hooked into my machines.

do you really need cat8 over good cat6? the cost and how harder it is to bend etc makes it not worth it, who knows if future proofing with be worth anything, home ISP are already offering fiber to every room, by the time you can appreciate the difference between 40+Gbps vs 10 you can already get on Cat6, things might have moved on

Good point.

Then, if Cat6...

What is the best cable?

Once it goes in, and installed, it would be very difficult to replace and re-install.

if you have it in a conduit, you can pull the new cable through should standard changes years down the line

Quite true. That cable will outlast him, however.

for what reasons do want cabled lan ?

I easily do everything I need over wifi, music and youtube out by the pool 30m away from my router is no issue.

Lower latency.

Also, as I mentioned, there are many repeated problems with the WIFI from my router, at least here in this area.

3BB replaced router twice already.

It's just not stable.

And, my motherboard offers WIFI 6E, so it is not the computer.

Also, for networking....

I want higher transfer speeds, up to 2Gbps.....

So, LAN network is better when faster.

wifi within your house has zero do with your provider.

buy a better router !

Thank you.

I did mention in an earlier comment that I have used UGREEN products I buy from the UGREEN store on Lazada.

I think the quality is OK.

But, I just need the cable.

And then, I will crimp on the connectors AFTER stringing the cable.

This is an older house, and there is not much space in existing conduits.

I might need to drill new holes, but hope I will not need to do so.

Either way, I want to buy cable and connectors separately.

I use the 3BB router.

I will not need WIFI, except for phone, after I install my LAN network.

Also, I do not use laptops, as you already know by now.

Hate laptops.

I am an optimist, you know.

I may not outlast my Samsung refrigerator, and this has been worrying me, quite a bit, lately.

OP, what part of your LAN requires that Cat 8 connection?

I have a fairly decent, two levels, 200 Sqm home. And there are only 2 connections I will cable with Cat 8 cable:

a) the connection between the ISP access point and my first mesh ASUS Wifi mesh router,

b) the backhaul between the two ASUS Wifi routers.

Everything else with the exception of one fickle printer runs happily over Wifi. About 50 devices rights now.

I don't manage my LAN through ISP provided hardware.

Also what length of cable will you need? A 100 meter reel might be a waste and not so cheap either while a 20 metres patch cable from Ugreen will cost you THB 700. You may get one connecter replaced or reel any extra length in a connection box or any hidden space. That's what I am doing anyway.

So then:  You ARE using Cat8 cable! I prefer Cat8, but some here are trying to talk me down to Cat6.  I figure, installation cost of drilling holes in walls, and also conduit, are quite a bit more expensive than paying a little extra for Cat8.  And, I want faster speed between several desktops. I hate using WIFI, and always have.

Re: your 50 devices...  As you know, due to reasons of numerology, I prefer numbers with one or more 5-ves.  I do not have many devices or connection points, simply because I do not have my refrigerator and toaster, etc, hooked up to the network.  Basically, I just have 4 desktops plus an old laptop, with lousy WIFI onboard, plus two phones, and several air purifiers that need connecting by WIFI.  I will also have one standalone cabinet for HDDs that need to be connected by Ethernet.

So, mostly I just want faster transfer speeds for the desktops and for the HDDs, for backup, etc.

Sort of like this...

I am very old school, and old in the tooth.

So, I have always used Ethernet for connections of high-resolution laser printers, and everything else.

I love Ethernet.

Re: Length of cable....

I guess the longest run will be about 15 meters.

I don't want to use patch cables from UGREEN, and already have several that I purchased about 4 years ago... I do like UGREEN quality, for sure, however....
