Dear Folks,

During the past week, this entire album has been running through my HEAD.

I know what it signifies to me....these past 6 days.

But, more importantly....

What does this music evoke in YOU?

IF anything, for that matter.....

Best regards,

Gamma

Ian Anderson rules.

Aqualung is probably one of the greatest rock songs ever.

And yes I know its a different album.

I was 10 years old when this was released and my elder brother bought a copy. At the time i liked the music but didn’t fully understand it, loved to read the newspaper album cover though.

Took a few years before i realised the meaning of the album, a parody of the story of an eight year old boy and the poem he wrote about growing up.

The band, in particular Ian Anderson, was sick that a previous album, Aqualung, was labelled as a concept album, strongly denying this he exaggerated the concept angle on Thick As as a sarcastic reply to the music journalists.

Thick As A Brick 2 is also a great album but TAAB 1 was such a hard act to follow it didn’t receive the acclaim it deserved. 40 years after the original it covers what became of young Gerald and i strongly recommend anyone who liked TAAB to follow up with TAAB 2.

So, TAAB conjures up for me some great memories of my childhood and as I grew my understanding of the music grew with me.
