A fire broke out, at approximately 15:45 on September 7, at a waste leachate pond belonging to Better World Green Co., Ltd. in Moo 8, Huai Haeng Subdistrict, Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province.

According to Kaeng Khoi District Chief, Mr. Montree Preeda, the fire started due to an electrical short circuit in a backup power unit. The flames quickly spread to oil residue floating on the tarpaulin covering the waste pond, which spans 5-6 rai, with the fire affecting around 1 rai of the area.

Saraburi Provincial Governor, Mr. Buncha Chaowarin, immediately assigned Mr. Montree Preeda to lead the fire response team in coordination with Mr. Watthanapong Pongkittjalert, head of Saraburi's Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, along with local officials. The firefighting operation involved a total of 14 fire trucks, 2 rescue vehicles, and over 100 personnel from various local organisations , including the Saraburi Municipality, Kaeng Khoi Municipality, and the Better World Green Co., Ltd.

Firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control by spraying chemical foam and limiting the affected area. By 17:40, the fire had been extinguished without any casualties or injuries. However, as thick smoke had spread over several nearby villages, authorities informed residents from five affected communities—approximately 300 people across 100 households—of safety precautions.

The company distributed carbon masks to help filter fine dust particles ranging from 5-10 microns in size. Additionally, the Environmental and Pollution Control Office 7 (Saraburi) was contacted to monitor air quality in the area. Residents experiencing health concerns were advised to visit Huai Haeng Health Promotion Hospital or Nong Song Hong Health Center for medical check-ups.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.

Oh the irony.

Maybe 'Better World not very Green Co Ltd'?
