How do you put an end to a prolific shoplifter, or someone who constantly breaks into cars or steals motorcycles ? they have to be taken off the streets but here in the UK if your sentenced for a stretch your out half way into your stretch do you think there going to change there way's ? it gets worse for the ones homeless there put up in Hotels.

I asked what's the solution. You haven't offered one.

No, it's not absolutely necessary. But how much of what people consume is actually necessary?

Very little ,  times are changing, there are certain luxuries that people can no longer afford .  Consumerism is a whole new subject for discussion. With all the talk of "the high street"  It seems it is now a way of measuring the economy but how relevant is people buying things they don't  using money they don't have ?    Do 12 year old kids really need £200 training shoes?  or smart phones with greater computing power than that required to send man to the moon?

Seems a bit strange to me  that people can be debanked on the whim of the same banks who will offer credit cards to the unemployed

Be careful? You're beginning to sound like a Socialist.

Several senior police officers themselves have admitted to the existence of 2 tier policing,

Have they? Have they really? Please provide a link to these statements from "senior police officers".

I'm really hoping you're not going to post a link to a completely anonymous caller to a right wing TV show on GBNews. You have better evidence than that, surely.

The death sentence for anyone who is/has been convicted, with irrefutable evidence, of murder, paedophilia and serious sex offences.

An irreversible punishment on the basis of fallible justice.

Perhaps treating drug users rather than jailing them might be a good place to start.

Or even building the prisons the nation needs before the existing prisons are over full.

You clearly, not for the first time, are suffering from selective reading.

Labour seem to be doing quite well at the moment .

40 000 new NHS staff

More Immigration staff

New prisons and staff

Repaying the 20 Billion GBP "Black hole" .

Have Labour stated how all this will be paid for ?

How about the health secretary contradicting his leader by saying throwing new staff at the NHS isn't the answer?

Or perhaps fining people for stupid FaceBook posts rather than jailing them?

But I guess that wouldn't terrify people into silence...

Misrepresenting the actual reasons why these ‘martyrs’ of yours were jailed again Jonny.

Not martyrs of mine Chomps, that's just another silly strawman but I know you find it hard to resist such banality. Just people making stupid posts on FaceBook from their living rooms.

If you think making room for them in jail by releasing rapists and drug dealers is a good idea then I can only assume you do not live in the areas where these released individuals will reside.

It's weird how they use the answer "£22bn black hole" as their tedious answer to every single question, yet when the financial times asked for some details about this they now don't want to talk about it.

"The UK Treasury is refusing to provide key details of the £22bn fiscal “black hole” that chancellor Rachel Reeves claims to have discovered, with officials insisting they need more time to ensure the figures are accurate."

Perhaps the far right wingers with whom you sympathize should have obeyed the law.

Prisoners were already being released before the election, refer Howard League link above.

Maybe someone didn’t build the prisons the nation needs.

Seriously though, why are they not looking at making prison camps like they do in Nevada. Tent cities in the desert filled with prisoners who are not dangerous and have less time. Rather than dumping them into the streets without money or jobs. How do they think these prisoners will be able to live without commiting more crime.

You raise a valid concern, however, your suggested solution is a No-Go.

The UK, especially England, is a densely populated nation and unused land is at a premium.  Irrespective of any other considerations, we simply lack the space to build US style prison camps away from populated areas.

The biggest recent rise in the prison population happened when it doubled mid nineties to 2012.

Someone should have built prisons during those times.
