Nothing short of the death penalty is appropriate in these sort of instances, and if the state is unwilling to impose it, well then there are other solutions.

I don't even want to begin to hear about this being a cultural thing it doesn't matter what culture it is, it's a despicable act and it warrants extreme punishment.

If a 12-year-old decides to fool around on her own that's on her, but for it to be imposed upon her is way over the line.

The problem with the knee jerk "hang 'em high" reaction is that you leave no room for differentiation on even worse crimes . So the same penalty for an act of terror deliberately murdering several children at a pop concert say. "Other solutions " - the implication being a public lynching?

You’ve overlooked also the "12 year old decides to fool around on her own (that’s on her)". What’s your understanding of the age of consent and statutory rape ?

Why haven't they arrested the rapist and the aunt? Note how it's not the police that is looking into filing charges. can't believe they are letting that pedophile walk free.

That is another discussion, and another topic.

Her father, frustrated with the slow pace of the legal system, took matters into his own hands and brutally beat up the suspect. There is no update on whether the girl has received justice.

The slow pace of Thai justice; the indifference/laziness of the police; both conspire to set up a vigilante alternative.

Thailand... Where pedophiles live and thrive in plain sight with the help of the locals. It's a sick and twisted place sometimes (and nothing ever changes).

Its a myth they never get long sentences and get away with it. Mrs best mate years ago got married to a teacher and they moved back to Surin. Couple of years later he was arrested for abusing two young girls at his school. He got a 20 year prison sentence, where he still is today.

What is wrong with you? Why make such a statement? If anything foreigners who support wives and girlfriends who inturn support families prevent this from happening. Whereas Thai men running off leaving their wife and child causes this to happen. In a country with no support for vulnerable and unemployed these things happen. Desperation! No money no food = starvation and death.

You should take a walk on Beach Road or go to some bars and watch how parents/family are offering their underaged children to the "wealthy fahrangs" who have travelled 10,000 miles for having sex with a child.

Plenty of bars named in ASEANNOW where the police found underaged girls working.

Why don't you name them again then ?

You did suggest that its currently happening on beach road now, now you seem to have backed away from that claim and merely claim there have been reports of underage people working in bars on the news .

Which is different to your initial claim

I have heard stories about relatives  and incest within the families. That is coming from thais I know.It happens but it is kept very quiet but every now and then they make the press or media and the aunt just walks away as if nothing ever happened

No it isn’t, the context is entirely relevant to your suggestions, but your deflections are noted..
