Exempting income taxes on overtime can't benefit fat cats, all of whom are exempt. It's a good political move.

The obvious response of course to Trump is both "why didn't you do that when you were President?" and "why did your massive tax cuts stop for the working people but continue in perpetuity for the wealthy and corporations?" Of course, these cuts were not offset by reduced spending or other means so added a huge amount to the deficit and were disproportionately beneficial to the highest income brackets.

I was making $20 an hour back in the '80s, non-exempt.  (That means I was entitled to overtime pay)  The big discussions in the breakroom were whether working the overtime would put us in a higher tax bracket and we'd end up with less in our paychecks.  It never worked out that we'd make less for working those hours.  But it was common to find out that I wasn't making time and a half ($30), it was more like $15 an hour after taxes.  Which sucked.  Not much incentive to work those extra hours if that's the case. 

 

Then I granulated and got a salaried job, not entitled to overtime.  Then, I worked all those extra hours for free, in the vain hope that I'd get promoted faster.  Sucked even more, because the good looking blonde guys got all the promotions, no matter how little extra time they put in.

 

Edit:  My bad.  I got 2 eras in my life conflated. I wasn't making $40 an hour until the late '90s.  Doesn't change the gist of the issue.  But I confess to changing the numbers to be accurate.

It's a tale of the ups and downs of a high immigration load. Most of whom are LEGAL! (So there won't be any 'mass deportations à la Eichmann.) Virtually none of whom are engaged in crime according even to the police. And most of whom WANT to work and pay back the chance they've been given to finally live at peace and no longer have to fear inconceivable violence and war. This applies to most migrants by the way.

 

It's a story of chances and opportunities and challenges. There is no hint or  mention anywhere by anyone involved of the city being 'devastated'. Utter piffle.

 

It's just a lot easier to kick down on the vulnerable than perhaps face off against those who pay any lower wages in the first place right? I'm sure you agree having just posted how you worked for nothing in the hope of a pat on the head from your bosses.

 

I can look in the mirror and say I've never worked an hour in my life for nothing. And the last one who tried got more than he bargained for because I owned him. I don't need to pick on the weak and vulnerable and spread unfounded rumors and lies, which by their very nature are more numerous and half way around the world before anything resembling the truth even has its boots on.

 

Trump and Vance were still lying about pooch and goose gobblers the last I looked a couple of hours ago.

President Biden did not appoint a border czar. There is no position in the US administration of "border czar".

VP Harris had no legal authority to enforce or to apply US border or immigration laws. 

The only ignorance  demonstrated is in those who keep insisting that the Vice President was responsible for the enactment of laws (Congress is) or the enforcement of laws (Department of Homeland Security and  CBP is).
