The incident occurred in Rayong on September 30, leaving three people dead after a six-wheeled truck crashed into the back of a parked lorry in a road works zone. The incident happened in a drainage construction area where warning signs were reportedly unclear, causing the truck to collide with full force at speed.

At around 17:30, Pol. Sub-Lt. Maitree Pakul, an investigator from Muang Rayong Police Station, received a report of a fatal collision on Route 36 inbound to Rayong in Thap Ma Subdistrict, Muang District. Emergency medical teams from Rayong Hospital and rescue workers from Sawang Porngkuson Foundation were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, officials found a six-wheeled truck, license plate from Bangkok, that had crashed into the back of a ten-wheeled lorry, license plate from Prachinburi, which was transporting large pipes. The front of the truck was completely wrecked, trapping three men inside the cab. One man was already dead, while the other two were severely injured.

Rescue teams used hydraulic cutters to free the trapped victims and rushed them to the hospital. Unfortunately, both men succumbed to their injuries shortly after arriving. The victims were later identified as Watthanapong Nuengjamnong, 36, the driver, Supachai Preechom, 31, and Sombun Promkamnoi, 41.

According to the driver of the other lorry, he had parked the vehicle to wait for workers to lift the pipes for the construction project. Suddenly, the six-wheeled truck, traveling at high speed, hit the cones marking the construction zone and slammed into the back of his lorry. Upon inspecting the wreck, he found the three men trapped inside and immediately alerted authorities.

Police have transported the bodies of the deceased to Rayong Hospital for further examination. They have also detained the lorry driver, workers, and site supervisors for questioning to determine whether proper warning signs were in place.
