The classic example of Elon not delivering on a performance promise.

Anyway, it was a subsidy that got cancelled, not any hardware.

If they don't work, why is FEMA making such a big deal out of sending a couple of dozen of them?

Meanwhile, Musk has donated 500 units, sending them to a deplorable (a NASCAR driver, even.  Yuck), who is going to distribute them using his own helicopter.

Let's recap the bidding:

SpaceX applied for a Starlink subsidy, promising a certain performance.

In 2023, FCC took away because Starlink did not meet the promised performance.

However, FEMA and other organizations use Starlink, just at a lower performance level, and with no subsidy.

Funny.  Boeing and Raytheon miss contract promises all the time, and they get funded.

You sure it's not because they're mad at Elon?

And did I mention, people are dying because of lack of communication?

BTW, how many Americans have been hooked up so far to the Harris/Biden $42Billion broadband project?   That's $42 Billion with a B.

Nope.

It's because of Republicans in Congress.

You know, the ones who voted against FEMA funding two days before the hurricane hit.

To be clear, Starlink works.

The issue was level of performance.

I've got the ticket - Send more billions of dollars to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
Show the folks in hurricane ravaged USA the love you have for them - let them know where US citizens are in the priority of the Democrat Party and the Biden Administration.

"Ah, at the bottom of the barrel?"  :glare:
 "Exactly."

Despite the aid that has arrived in Canton, Smathers worries that connectivity issues have prevented proper coordination, which may have led to delays in getting help to those most in need. “I have witnessed with my own eyes, FEMA and state assistance on the ground but due to communication issues I can’t tell you to what degree they are here. I can’t reach my own police officers and firefighters unless I see them in person at the station and town hall,” he said.

We need Starlink emergency receivers and transformers and other electric infrastructure gear.

👴👩‍🦱 "Sorry - you're Americans.  We need your tax money to send to other countries like Ukraine, and we also have send the transformers and communication equipment to Ukraine as well.  But FEMA will be handing out the equivalent of 24000 THB to people whose homes are destroyed, but only if you really really really need it.  Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan really really really need US money and emergency supplies more than you peons.  Tread water - it's good for you...it builds character.
What?  Why isn't Joe Biden here to support you.  Come on man! He's at the beach.  He's busy and needs his downtime and naps, and Kamala needs to campaign.  Sorry, no time for you American commoners.  Suck it up cupcakes!
