Hillary Clinton Warns of Upcoming Misinformation Targeting Kamala Harris

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has issued a stark warning about a potential "October surprise" aimed at distorting and misrepresenting Vice President Kamala Harris. In a recent interview with “Firing Line” host Margaret Hoover, Clinton expressed concerns that a concerted effort would be made to twist Harris’s image and achievements ahead of the upcoming election.

“There will be concerted efforts to distort and pervert Kamala Harris, who she is, what she stands for, what she’s done,” Clinton said during the interview. She compared the potential smear campaign against Harris to the 2016 “pizzagate” conspiracy theory, which falsely accused Clinton herself of running a child trafficking operation from the basement of a Washington, D.C., pizzeria. The conspiracy, which spread widely online, culminated in a North Carolina man opening fire at the pizza parlor in an attempt to rescue the fictional children.

“I mean, look, I mean, the crazy story about me running a child trafficking operation out of a basement of a pizzeria,” Clinton recalled, drawing laughter from the audience. But her tone quickly shifted, as she reminded the crowd of the serious consequences of such disinformation. “Don’t laugh. It was a huge story. And it got one young man in North Carolina to get in his car with his, you know, assault rifle and drove up to liberate these nonexistent children and shoot up a pizzeria in Washington, D.C.”

Clinton highlighted the dangers of disinformation campaigns that begin online, often in dark corners of the internet, before spreading to larger platforms. “This is dangerous stuff,” she said. “It starts online often on the dark web. It migrates. It’s picked up by the pro-Trump media. It’s then reported on by everybody else, which makes sure it has about 100 percent coverage, and people believe it.” She warned that, as the election draws nearer, “the digital airwaves” will likely be filled with misinformation, which can easily gain traction and influence public perception.

Looking ahead, Clinton speculated that Harris may become the target of a major disinformation campaign in the final weeks before the election. “I don’t know what it’s going to be,” she said about the anticipated “October surprise,” a term often used to describe last-minute efforts to influence an election. “But it will be something, and we’ll have to work very, very hard to make sure that it is exposed as the lie that it is.”

Clinton also voiced concerns about the role foreign actors such as Russia, Iran, and China could play in fueling disinformation efforts, specifically through social media. She stressed the importance of the press maintaining a “consistent narrative” about the potential dangers posed by former President Donald Trump and his influence on the country.

In other words she knows that some real dirt on Harris has been discovered and is attempting to head it off in advance. IMO.

One thing, Hillary has never told a lie.  The Clinton Crime Foundation was the best thing in helping poor needing people.  Paid out between 5% and 9% of what they took in.  Where did the rest go?

No=one needs to worry this. It is difficult to distort these things when they do not apply to Harris. She is nothing but a flaky twit who knows nothing about speaking or being a politician. She stands for something today but tomorrow she will stand against it to appease the crowd she is talking to. She has done nothing since being in the White House so there it nothing to distort there. If the facts are said she will of course distort the truth of it though.

Sorry, never heard of it until mentioned on this forum.

You must be the only one!

The baseless theory is that the business was a front for a child sex ring run by Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager.

Better hurry up and censor the internet.

It won't matter. the news services will distort anything negative about her and paint her in a pretty picture to the world since they are so biased and never bother to fact check anything against Harris. The independent news services who do report it will be ridiculed that they are MAGA or spreading Trump rhetoric and downplayed by the bigger news services. I really do not know why Clinton is worried about it unless it is something that is very bad she knows about and is laying the groundwork in peoples minds for when it surfaces that it is not true.
