Georgealbert Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 A firecracker mishap resulted in a fire that damaged two vehicles following the Bang Neaw Shrine procession in Phuket. The incident occurred around 20:30 on October 3. Sgt. Phubet Chotikasaethia, a traffic officer from Phuket City Police, was providing assistance during the procession commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Bang Neaw Shrine. He received a report of a car fire in an alley located between Siam Commercial Bank and Krungsri Bank on Rasada Road in the Talad Yai area. The fire was promptly reported to Pol. Col. Prateuang Pholmana, Superintendent of Phuket City Police, who quickly arrived on the scene with a team of officers and local firefighters. Upon arrival, the authorities found a Toyota Fortuner engulfed in flames, which had already spread to a nearby Subaru. Firefighters worked rapidly and were able to control the fire within 15 minutes. However, the Fortuner was completely destroyed, and the Subaru suffered damage to its side and interior. The owner of the Toyota Fortuner explained that he had just finished watching the procession when children nearby began lighting firecrackers. A child placed firecracker at the back of his car, and as he started the engine, an explosion occurred, causing the child to leap away. Moments later, the vehicle was ablaze. Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, and forensic specialists will be called in to examine the scene. Picture courtesy of Khaosod. black tabby12345 Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Cause of the fire on the car. More than 2 decades ago, I have heard of the similar case; sudden flame up of the Diesel vehicle(truck) suddenly after engine start up. They later pinpointed its cause. That engine was reconditioned and the mechanic left the waste rug inside the engine before he reassembled the once disassembled diesel engine.
