A foreign tourist suffered a cardiac arrest as he was waiting at a traffic light on Pattaya Central Road. He was saved by the swift actions of a young Thai doctor and local rescue volunteers.

The incident which has since garnered significant attention across Thai social media, began when the tourist collapsed on Central Road, near the intersection across from Foodland. Passersby’s quickly gather around the unconscious man, while a young doctor rushes to the scene, performing life-saving CPR.

The doctor, identified as Dr. Surachet Sirisuthivoranon, known as “Dr. Mark”, a 32-year-old physician from Chan Clinic, happened to be nearby when the incident unfolded.

Dr. Mark explained that the foreigner had suddenly lost consciousness while waiting at the traffic light and had no pulse when he was found. Without hesitation, Dr. Mark, along with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, began administering emergency CPR to revive the tourist.

The rescue was a combined effort, with traffic police helping to manage the scene as Dr. Mark and the volunteers worked tirelessly to stabilise the patient.

Dr Mark continued to assist and also accompanied the tourist to the hospital in the ambulance to ensure his condition was monitored en route.

Dr. Mark, is currently pursuing a PhD at Siriraj Hospital and emphasised the importance of basic first aid knowledge and how interventions like CPR can make the difference between life and death.

The tourist, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to a local hospital, where he is reported to be recovering under medical care.

Well done Dr. Surachet Sirisuthivoranon.

Amazing.  Underlines the importance of basic first aid training for as many as possible, with defribs dotted around if possible.  That'll be a very big wai from the tourist I hope.

100% agree....  Props to Dr. Mark...  Saving the life of another in such a manner has avoided a profound loss for those surrounding the unwell..

My father had a heart attack in is 60's - I was over here at the time and flew straight home - he was very fortunate that a Dr. was nearby (in our quiet rural area) and he was attended to within minutes which almost certainly saved his life...    Our son, now has the pleasure of spending his time with his grandfather when we visit the UK and the value of that cannot be understated.

Its great to see such a positive story and the spreading of the information of how important basic first aid such as CPR is.

Good work Doc,

Agreed

But hope the tourist does not have a further heart attack when shown the hospital bill.

They'll break it to him gently, pay up before you get out of bed.

No idea.

Whether he has insurance or not may still get a shock when he sees the bill.

Well done Dr. Mark!  This tourist was very lucky that there was a doctor nearby who responded to his cardiac event.

Shocked in which manner ?...

If he's from the US he'd be pleasantly surprised that at how cheap treatment is.

If he's from the UK he'd perhaps be surprised that its not free (although that would be extremely naive)

Why ? I just had a 300,000 baht hospital bill...     I'm not sure where the shock comes into it, unless someone is uninsured and gets a huge bill....  So.. is that what you were implying ?
