Thai Army to Auction 64 Service-Dogs-in-Training Homes Needed

In an unexpected twist, the Royal Thai Army is organising an auction to rehome 64 dogs that, despite their rigorous training, didn't quite make the cut to become service dogs. These canines, all aged between 2.9 and 3.3 years, hail from two esteemed breeds: German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. The event is scheduled for 16th November and will take place at the Military Dog Centre in Pak Chong district.

 

Prospective bidders will find both breeds well-represented, with nine male and sixteen female German Shepherds, alongside twenty-three male and sixteen female Belgian Malinois. These dogs, although trained, were either deemed too friendly, were underweight, or overweight, which prevented them from meeting stringent military standards.

To participate in the auction, interested individuals must bring along a copy of their ID card and photographs of the place where these intelligent, friendly canines will be cared for. This unique opportunity not only provides these loyal animals with the chance to find a welcoming home but also invites dog lovers to include a highly obedient and well-trained companion in their lives.

Why not shift training to being seeing eye guide dogs.  Bet there is a need for them and the discipline training is complete.

They would certainly soon sort out the local soi dogs.

Donate them to Thai Customs to train as sniffer dogs for Cannabis at airports.

It's an auction yes? Top of the list is the highest bid; nationality is irrelevant.

Indeed do not understand why not transferred to customs.

Think they can do good with problems in airports.

Also they can smell a lot from bombs, drugs, money. maybe an additional training in it.

Reasons are weird to thin? give them food, too heavy, give less food, train more.

Too friendly, well give me that one.

I think some of these dogs with new owners, will end up being soi dogs.
