Bank of Thailand Interest Rate Cut Offers Boost to Tourism Sector

Pol. Col. Adirek Thongkamkaew, Superintendent of Bangkaew Police Station, along with Lt. Chanat Thep-lao, Deputy Inspector of Investigations, forensic medical staff from Ramathibodi Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital, and Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, responded to the scene of a fatal incident involving a container lift at approximately 15.30 on October 16, in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan.

 

The deceased, identified as Mr. Saichon Janthon, 52, from Watthana Nakhon District, Sa Kaeo Province, was found with severe head injuries and a fractured right ankle. Despite CPR efforts by emergency responders, Mr. Saichon was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

 

Witnesses, including Mr. Jaran Kamsuwan, a coworker of the deceased, stated that Mr. Saichon, a construction worker employed by a neighboring company, had been walking through the container yard after using the restroom. He was wearing headphones, listening to music, which may have prevented him from hearing the approaching container lift. As a result, he was pinned between a container being moved and another container, losing consciousness immediately.

 

The driver of the container lift, Mr. Arthit Phuengkij, explained that he had been operating the vehicle to unload containers and stack them as usual. He did not expect anyone to be walking through the work area, as it is typically restricted. It was only after he had placed the container and reversed the vehicle that he noticed someone lying unconscious and immediately called for help.

 

Pol. Col. Adirek has ordered a thorough investigation, including interviews with all witnesses and involved parties, to determine the exact cause of the incident. The driver of the container lift has been brought in for further questioning, while the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination at the forensic institute.

They are not aware of any security measures in this country. Nor are they aware of things like always looking to see everything is safe and clear. Here we have a container lift operator who just assume everything is clear as it usually is??? After that, we have a guy with headphones who assumes he can walk where he shouldn´t. The area is also assumed to be typically restricted. Besides that, the operator seems to be unaware that he are moving containers far to close to each other. As it was able to kill a person, I would not be surprised if the containers collided with each other at some moment. That is poor attention and bad work.

So he did not notice the person while driving forward..............I'm guessing no warning 'beepers' or flashing lights fitted.
