It seems now we have to apply for a retirement visa online, via The Thai Evisa Official website - https://www.thaievisa.go.th/

Has anyone done this recently whilst in your home country?

How was the procedure - Smooth & clear?

How long did it take for your visa to be approved.

@Pattaya57 applied for a non O based on retirement eVisa while in AU.

Will post his experience at some point.

Did a non O in the UK earlier this year. Very clear requirements and issued in 4 days.

Did a non O retirement in Australia in March. Very easy and visa sent by email in 3 days.

 

All I needed was to upload scans of:

- Passport ID page

- passport photo

- Aus bank statement

- proof of address in Aus (I used drivers licence)

Non-imm O is under the "other visas" category, while O-A is under "Long Stay Visas"

Non-IMM O is under Other Visas "Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with state pension who wishes to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days)"

 

1. Don't worry about the "State Pension" part, you don't need one you just have to show the normal financials

2. Don't worry about the "No Longer than 90 days" part, that is just your Visa, once you have the Visa you can start doing 1 year annual extensions.

No, you can show the equivalent off 800k baht in your home bank.

 

However, if you happen to have a Thai bank account with 800k in it then you could show that instead.

Thank you. That's good. As I do have 800k in my BKK Bank Account. Will they email me a statement (if I request via the Mobile App) - which the immigration will accept?

I don't know about Bangkok Bank but I used an app generated statement from my Australia bank no problems. 

 

For info, my Krungsri Bank app gives a bank statement which I download/copy from the app so don't need bank to email me a statement.

Bangkok Bank will email you a statement... Click on "More Services" bottom right hand corner of the mobile app, then "Request Account Statement" - Can't quite request a 1 year statement (e.g. I can order one now from 1st November 2023) but am sure you only need 3 months anyway (Maybe best to get 4 as you can't pick the starting day, it always starts from 1st of the month).

 

Do note that BKK Bank Statements do not include your address but as long as you're not using it for proof of address you should be ok.

  

As a test I just requested a statement from November 2023, took approx. 5 minutes...

Does Immigration not want Statements with the official bank stamp and signature?

Immigration is not involved with issuing e-visas.  The local embassy is.  I used a self-downloaded Kasikorn bank statement for my O-eVisa, no problems.

Yes you can take it all out as the home country bank statement is only to show you have the funds for a 90 day non-imm O.

 

Once in Thailand you need to open a Thai bank account and deposit 800k baht for at least 2 months before applying for the 12 month extension (obviously this 800k can come from the home bank account you used for the e-visa application)

The OP would be obtaining the non O retirement eVisa..

Entering Thailand and presumably obtaining  12 month extension.

No point taking the funds out as it needs to be seasoned for 2 months for the extension.

If not planning on obtaining the extension then yes could withdraw funds once eVisa issued

Can anyone tell me and show me links or official text on showing 800k in the home bank account from your own country as I thought this was not possible and think about the 800k you know Thai bank account how it cannot ever go below 400k is that all out the window is it I don't get it appreciate positive healthful comments thank you very much and good health to all

Think about it. How is a person going to open a Thai bank account and put 800k baht in it when you are applying in your home country. This is why the requirements say equivalent of 800k baht so you can use your home country bank account

I paid A$120 in Australia. As you said you are from Sri Lanka it will be 24,000 Rupee for non-imm O (single entry)

Sorry but obviously wrong. I'm on a non-imm O from Australia right now and you can get it from most countries, especially if they have access to e-visa.

Non O-A can only be obtained in home country or country where you have permanent residence status.

A non O can be obtained in home country or nearby Thai consulates/embassies eg Savannakhet.

Also countries that provide eVisa.

Note some countries will be switching to eVisa eg Vietnam.

Non O can also be obtain in Thailand at immigration from a visa exempt or tourist visa entry.

Yes. In January 2024 from the LA Consulate for the OA.  Used EVisa and this time the number of documents was less than in the past.  Submitted everything on the Evisa website and got the approval email in 10 days. It was very painless and even using my US credit card to pay the fee ($200) was seamless.  In the past it was "pain in the ass" get the charge through on Evisa if I used a US based credit card.  For Evisa K Bank was the merchant of record.
