Intermittent fasting

Recommended Posts

Are you drinking those protein shakes along with other meals? That might be too many calories, as CharlieH suggested. You can use water and protein mix, or low sugar soymilk. Don't use fruit juice. As far as the coffee, don't use 3 in 1. Sugar and creamer extra calories, empty, you don't need. If you order coffee out, get black and ask for a tad of soymilk and bring Splenda, Stevia or Equal with you to add for sweetener., as most Thai coffee shops won't carry these, besides a few having Equal.  This is what I do when out and about. Ice coffee, 2 Splenda, Stevia or Equal, and a tad of soymilk, keeping the calories to almost none.

What is the most hours you personally fast for ?

you will lost more weight the longer your fasting windows are.

but how much of it is fat and how much is muscle loss?

hard to say what the ideal fasting window is. don't forget to keep your protein levels high.

and how much protein should we have in one meal?

controversial, not sure I have found the answers yet.

For coffee, black is definitely the way to go if you want to keep it strict. Those 3-in-1 mixes have added sugar and calories. As for fasting, a lot of people do well with 16 to 18 hours. After it’s best to start with something light to ease your stomach back into it.

Most recommend 1.6gr per 1gr body weight.  Better 2gr per 1gr body weight.

I think 1 gram per pound of body weight.

If you weigh 150 lbs, you may need around 150g of protein.

But my main point is you are not getting protein when you are fasting.

So you potentially lose muscle mass, not only fat.

artificial sweetners recently have researchers questioning the health benefits of ingesting these fake sugars.  I liken this to the artificial cooking oils (SEED oils) which have been used for over a hundred years and now the researchers have tested, studied and proven that seed oils are bad for one's health.  The same is true to artificial anyfoods, they are just that "fake".  But, trying to get people to change lifestyles and eating habits has always been difficult as the only one penalized is that person risking their own health and many times it takes years for the results to become obvious.  Look at the US stats today almost half of the citizens are FAT, Obese, 40+ percent are diabetics.  At least with natural foods, there are no side effects, unless eating non-organic which have been sprayed with anti-pest materials.  Just like plastic-bptt;ed  water - now we also know from tests that anyone drinking this water is also ingesting micro-plastics which could affect one's health also.  Read any label of packaged foods - too much fake ingredients! foreign language named ingredients - why aren't the  labels telling us exactly what that fake stuff is.  The bottom line of course - from this non-expert is "it is your body and your health!"  Enjoy whatever YOU want!

1 gr. protein per pound bodyweight is recommended for athletes and bodybuilders only. For others it is usually 1 gr protein per Kilo.

I agree that the artificial sweeteners might not be so healthy. I have been using them for many years, but have been trying to find better substitutes, those from more natural sources. Stevia seems to be okay, at least for now, and I've been slowly switching over to it as I've heard more about Splenda and Equal. The rest of my diet has been very clean for the last 50 years, and the only trouble I've really had has been stomach related when I had H Pylori, presumably from bad water here. Living in Texas, I rarely had anything health wise wrong. Just after I moved here. I think also meat has been the culprit here, as it's always left out all day on trays, which isn't that good. back home they shrink wrap as soon as It's cut and it's kept in coolers.

Here is the secret , you don't need to add sweeteners to food.

Also red meat should be almost eliminated from your diet along with dairy.

Nothing more lolz than watching some old guys who moved to Pattaya suddenly start to go to the gym and pretend to eat healthy while drowning in alcohol.

Fasting, lol......

Intermittent masterbathing is what I do and is a lot more effective

Bottom line is it's just another way of reducing caloric intake that seems to be easier for some people compared to just eating less throughout the day.

Seems to me it's just another diet fad imo.  If you continue doing it your metabolism slows down so you can't do it too often otherwise you won't get as much benefit.

Sweeteners are for taste, as some food is too bland otherwise. I love coffee, but black has never been appealing, and if I'm going to drink it, it will have a touch of soy or almond milk and a bit of Equal, Stevia or Splenda. I don't use near the amount I did before, in cereal or oatmeal, as I'm concerned with the artificial part. red meat is actually very healthy, as long as you don't eat too much of the fatty kind. It has nutrients other food doesn't. If you haven't any trouble digesting it, it's okay. Dairy is out besides yogurt, as I'm trying to re-do my guy microbiota after H Pylori treatment, which destroys much of your beneficial bacteria from the 2 doses of antibiotics. I only use almond, soy or other nut milks because cow milk , which I was allergic to as a child, isn't good for humans anyway.
