if I did by some miracle manage to ride all the way from Europe on a UK registered bike, how many months/years could I hang around before some 'useful tool of the gestapo' reported me and/or got stopped/fined?

You can ship past the difficult countries. I had a plan to ride my bike home, but covid and Iran conflict have stopped my plans. 

 

It is a long ride which need proper planning, parts and time and not to forget skills riding on all kinds of surfaces as well timing.

I think foreign registered bikes get 30 days permit on land entry to Thailand. I heard can extend this by another 30 days in some central customs office in big towns. After that must exit..., but check for yourself to be sure...
