My opinion this is the result that the  opening hours are too long.. 2 AM should be enough. The night is not for the good people, too drunk ,jealousy,  drugs abuse  etc and see what can happen...Besides which "normal" person is able to go out till early morning and work the next day???

And I know the entertainment venues will open 24 hours, as they only think about money, but working at night for the people has a bad influence on their health too.. Government should protect people

You sound like a barrel of fun at parties

Thankfully this kind of nonsense is relatively rare in Thailand, I am from the US and we have a mass shooting there nearly every day. Americans absolutely adore their guns and their violence.

USA

If X is the number of crimes committed by armed criminals,

then 10 X is the number of violent crimes thwarted by armed citizenry.

Directly across the soi from the Hollywood nightclub at the Bae Ka Din restaurant on Chalermphrakiat Soi 3, NOT Phettrakul Road (or"Petchtrakul" as it's called in the Pattaya Mail article). :glare:
(Phettrakul Road is on the other side of the Hollywood and runs from the Hollywood Disco to the back side of Central Marina and then to the "rear" of Terminal 21.
Chalermphrakiat Soi 3 is the "short-cut" route to  get from the back side of Central Marina to #3 road by driving south for a bit on Phettrakul and then turning onto Chalermphrakiat Soi 3.)

And in the Pattaya Mail article it says the gunman was a part of the group that left "an entertainment venue" (Hollywood Disco most likely as it's like 40 meters away) and that they had engaged in a fist fight prior to the shooting.

It's a little confusing as at first the article says:

And then in the very next paragraph it says:

So, "Thai foreigners" ? :omfg:

Oh and - "at 4:06 am".

Ah "closing time". "Back in the day" closing time at the bars was quite often "fight time" as certain people would decide if they weren't going to get laid that night, then they may as well try to pick a fight with someone. Preferably someone that was going to get lucky.

It was a lol to be walking back to the base after the bars closed, especially on Fridays/Saturdays, and see strings of cop cars parked on the street just waiting for "something" to happen.
You learned that it was a good idea to finish your drinks and be out the door at least 15 minutes before closing - unless you were one of those types that sticks around to the very end hoping "something" would happen.

Sounds like a Thai argument that took place in another location b4 this happened,  Thai shooting at Thai, My friend witnessed a similar event a few years ago when two tables of Thais were shouting abuse at each other, then a Gun was produced from the table behind my friend, and bullets whistled past his head, the person at the table in front was shot fatally, my friend crawled out of the club on his hands and knees and was questioned by some Thai people on the beach a few days later as to what he had seen, he told them to leave him alone he never saw nothing.

A 65 year old eyewitness, Amnuay, described the harrowing moment when a lone gunman approached a group of what appeared to be foreign visitors and opened fire.

“I saw someone hit the ground.”

Amnuay added that the injured party was whisked away by companions in a black Alphard van.

This story has Chinese written all over it

Teenagers so irresponible...

I have 6 children, 5 past age 25, and not one of them has ever intentionally hurt anyone in their lives . I was, and am a single parent for much of this with not much help from my ex's. I teach respect for others and life, and animals. It's not hard for a child to grow up respecting others and themselves if they see it from their parents. There are thousands of absent fathers here and it shows, both in how boys treat others and how girls look to men as ATM's instead of partners. Punishment fits the crime and more might take a notice.

I don't see many Americans out on the streets fighting crime. However, I do see alot of familoes with hordes of weapons, that kids seem to have just enough access to, so that they are enabled to shoot up a mall, or their school, their classmates, and their teachers. Justify it all you may. It is way too easy to access firearms in the US. And the result is horrific.

I'm confuse, the title says, "Teenagers Fight, Shoot at each other," but the article says, "Eyewitness Mr. Amnuay, 65, reported seeing a gunman approach alone and shoot at the injured group, believed to be foreigners."  This seems like a contradiction.  What happened?

What the hell is anyone doing out of their house, much less out on the streets in Pattaya, at 4:30 a.m.? That's just completely crazy!

Bars etc are open until 4am, some nightclubs later.... going for some food after a night out is not unusual.

Being drunk and stupid isn't a reason to be accosted, and it happens a lot here daily.

They weren't accosted because

they were drunk and stupid,

rather for robbery.

Drunk and stupid just makes it easy.

& yes, drunk and stupid is a common daily thang.

As is being accosted, which is what I pointed out. Of course robbing someone who's drunk is easier, because those who rob are cowards and prefer victims who can't fight back.

You could say much the same thing about Thailand. No one doing much of a job enforcing laws, gun crimes committed daily,as well as mass shootings going on, intentional homicides higher than the US, many people with guns, and many illegal, and kids not only having access but having guns in possession at younger ages than the US. Too many guns aren't the problem. Mental illness is, and letting those with such access to those guns, instead of locking them up, as all responsible gun owners should. Many lives are saved every year by citizens with guns, and that will continue because that mental illness will never go away. Keeping guns away from those kinds is what needs to be done. Responsible gun owners, hunters, target shooters and those for self protection aren't the ones committing gun crimes. It's the crazies getting them in their hands, just as it is here.

It's time for the Police Farce  to show themselves again and make us feel safe, not only in Walking Street this time

I NEVER saw police patrolling on foot when I lived in Pattaya, except on walking street.
