Just in case you think these subpoenas are issued willy nilly here are the requirements....

U.S. congressional select committees have the authority to issue subpoenas under powers granted by the Constitution and established through various laws and precedents. Specifically, this authority stems from the implied powers of Congress under the U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 1) and Supreme Court rulings affirming that congressional committees have investigative powers necessary to fulfill their legislative functions.

Key grounds for issuing a subpoena include:

1. Legislative Purpose: A select committee may issue a subpoena if the information sought is relevant to an area where Congress has legislative power. This might include gathering information for drafting, amending, or repealing laws.

2. Oversight and Investigation: Committees are empowered to investigate federal agencies, actions of public officials, or other matters that affect public policy. This authority is essential for Congress to fulfill its oversight responsibilities.

3. Public Interest and National Security: In certain cases, such as inquiries related to public health or national security, committees have wide latitude to issue subpoenas as these areas often involve urgent matters affecting public welfare.

4. Scope of Inquiry: The information requested must be pertinent to the committee’s stated purpose and scope of inquiry. Committees cannot issue subpoenas for unrelated information or as a tool of harassment.

For enforcement, committees can seek court intervention if a subpoena is ignored. Courts typically uphold the subpoena if it serves a legitimate legislative purpose and respects the limits of Congress’s authority  .

Hardly the same, would you not agree.........?

Hunter Biden recently defied a congressional subpoena that required him to appear for a closed-door deposition regarding his business dealings. Instead, he publicly stated that he would only testify in a public setting, arguing that closed-door sessions could lead to selective leaks and manipulation of his statements. He expressed frustration with the Republican investigators, claiming they did not want an open process where his answers could be scrutinized by the public

Ban was on a radio talk show .Never heard someone yack on and on almost without taking a breath.A deeply unpleasant man.

He is, and soon he'll be back behind bars again, and this time most likely for a long spell.

And, what's so deliciously ironic is he'll be tried for scamming the MAGA crowd. Personally, I'd like to see him getting the maximum sentence AND a medal for it. A fake medal of course, made in China.
