Popular Post snoop1130
Two foreign men, believed to be French nationals, reportedly attempted to extort 2,000 baht from a Thai tourist in the Patong area of Phuket on Monday. The Thai victim shared his shocking experience on Monday, October 28, with Phuket Times to warn other tourists and to urge action from the local police. The victim revealed that the incident took place on Sai Gor Road in the Patong sub-district on Monday night. He explained that he parked his motorcycle on the left lane of the road to answer a phone call. While he was on the phone, two foreign men approached him on a black motorcycle. One of them tapped him on the shoulder and demanded 2,000 baht in cash. According to the Thai man, the foreigners then threatened him and appeared as if they were about to harm him, prompting him to quickly ride away on his motorcycle. He stated that he was frightened but had to compose himself to escape from the foreign suspects. The victim believed that the two foreigners were French nationals due to their accents while speaking English, although he was not entirely certain of this assumption. He expressed confidence that he was not the first victim of these two foreigners, deducing from their actions and body language, which displayed no signs of fear or hesitation. The man urged anyone who had experienced a similar situation to come forward and share their accounts to warn others. The victim added that he had never known or expected the Patong area to have become a dangerous place and a haven for foreign criminals. Many online commenters asked the man to share any dashcam footage from his motorcycle as evidence, while others urged him to file a complaint with the police and seek security camera footage to support his claim. A Thai woman commented that she had previously witnessed a group of Russian nationals begging for money on Phuket’s beaches and attached a video of the alleged suspects. Another Thai man claimed in the comments section that some French nationals in Phuket regularly carried knuckledusters and other weapons, with some even possessing illegal firearms. Thailand will never get quality tourists if they not review their visa politics. (Europe opened 2015 all doors and got not only refugees but a lot of criminals as well) And please more law enforcement 🙏 3 2
Popular Post ukrules
I have one real rule, anyone who approaches me is up to no good and I tend to treat them as such. For example, I was at an ATM in Cambodia a few months ago and someone came over to me asking 'where my money is' - this is the woman who was just at the machine before I withdrew about $2000 in cash. She had waited until I used the machine 4 separate times to withdraw $500 and then approached. I looked at her and told her to fqck off and she promptly made her exit. No time for these morons. 2 1 1 5

I had it in the UK last year at an ATM, when two Eastern Europeans approached me asking the whereabouts for a street that didn't exist as long as I have lived there. I shouted at them to wait until I had finished at the ATM and they briskly walked away, it was a simple attempt at diversion tactics to steal either the cash or my card. They got neither. Nobody with any sense approaches a person using an ATM to strike up a conversation without an ulterior motive.

kevozman1
'Reportedly attempted'.. Now whilst I know the police still have to at least make records of reports, that seems very wishy-washy for making an article about. Then it goes further, to the person claiming to be a victim saying he thought the people attempting to extort him were speaking in a French accent and therefore reported as French nationals. Even if he got that correct that it was a French accent, French is spoken by more people outside of France than in France itself by quite a large ratio. riverhigh
Hmmm... why the specific amount of 2,000 baht? Sounds like the foreign men were trying to sell the Thai something and demanded 2000 baht, which he rightfully turned down. All the same it's veiled extortion under the pretence of selling products/services which is illegal. If so, the foreign duo need to be fined, jailed and then deported with a life time ban.
