50,000 baht stolen. Should I call the police?

Not sure which is worse between the ladies who cheat you ?...... or the managments in many of those posh real estate villa developpments that openly overcharge and cheat falangs who have pool villas on lease hold (all over Hua Hin, Hin Lek Fai for exemple), one really has to watch your step in Thailand.

A friend was overpaying her monthly utilities (water electric) directly to the managment. When she started checking she realised that they were cheating on the meter and that water was being over used by the gardeners who were getting kickbacks from the falang managment of this pool villa developpement in Hin Lek Fai.

Best thing before buying should it be Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Phuket or whatever,  is to go over to the place you like but only talk to the real owners and not to the managment rental or sales staff or those who are just renting.

I was with my ex, we were dancing and drinking.    I decided I should prove to her that I had money, so I tossed her 50,000 baht wrapped in a rubber band.

We continued to party until closing time and then I asked for my money back.   She refused to give me back the 50,000 baht.

She is a mother with 2 kids.    I don't want to make her life difficult, but I don't think that I should let her get away with this - it won't do her or her family any good living off theft!

she thinks divorce settlement, forget it

You guys all believe this ridiculous troll post??

How long have you been on this forum?

Desperate times really that we have to put up with this nonsense. Actually disappointed in myself for clicking on it.

I don’t believe it. And I feel you. These ridiculous troll posts are becoming more common at an exponential rate. Mods really need to get a grip on this instead of it appearing on the front page of the news letter.  No offense, mods. I know you have your plates full of this stuff.  I’ve been a mod for others. But we didn’t open up the flood gates and create the devil’s playground.

You gave her 50k what chance do you think to have with the police, you might get a defamation claim against you.

Don't get stupid drunk next time.

Offer the police a cut of what you can recover. The police here are well known for certain talents.  I'm assuming your x wife is Thai.  Thais are afraid of the police.  Use it to your advantage.

Stop listening to fools and miscreants.  Listen only to me.

Go to the police.  Embellish your story so it is in your favor.

You have nothing more to lose.

He does, ever heard of defamation.

Pretty despicable to try to frame someone for theft while giving money away while drunk.

It's despicable to steal money while pretending to have a night out.

He gave it to her and now wants it back.

Go learn about the law or drink coffee with butter.

You have yet to learn about any conversation between them. You would make a poor investigator.

How would you know? You don't know.  You are impulsive. You came to a conclusion without asking anything more.

You, sir, are ignorant of the full facts.

It might feel like a significant amount to someone who languishes in Thailand on a tight budget, perhaps due to limited savings and a limited source of fixed income.

It is a significantly foolish amount to carry in cash.

What could go wrong?

A number of things.

Witness this thread.

I would be very embarrassed to post something like that.  Definitely intelligence deficiency.

She hasn't stolen anything, you gave it to her... It's only your arrogance that has made you lose the money, it's time for you to grow up...

Yup,  I was very dumb.    Never do it again.

And no, I'm not a troll.   I am a man short 50,000 baht.

Please don't waste your time with further accusations.

Short 50.000 baht and a few brain cells

It's not worth a heart attack or the ridicule :wai:
