Israeli Employers Fly to Chiang Rai to Recruit Thai Workers Amid High Demand

The retirees among the readers might remember the Kibbuz scam by Israel. In the 70s it was THE thing. They charged youngsters airfare (on ElAl of course) as well as food and lodging, free guitar listening to a fellow Kibbuzian and after a few weeks or months the youngsters returned to their homeland. During their stay they had to pick grapefruit and other agricultural produce and all this was in the context of "hallelujah" and, in some cases, some steamy nights with a fellow youngster. 

The Israelis were smart enough to get free of charge workers from all over Europe and the workers even paid for their own airfare. 

Will not work in  Chiang Rai and some Thais, having returned from the promised holy land, said that the work was very hard compared to very little pay - yet still better than the 300 Baht promised by Yingluck and - of course - not paid by fellow countrymen 😉

   Kibbutz's are communes , people who stay there are not paid money (even Israelis who live there  are not paid money ) 

   You work on the Kibbutz and they provide everything for you .

People volunteer to work there , its not a scam .

  Thais are not going to Israel to volunteer to work on a Kibbutz , they are going there to work for money

Although employment opportunities are welcome, the truth about these jobs include:

- The Thai worker has to pay a very large 'placement' fee to the employment agency.  This is in direct contrast to EU agencies, where the employee pays nothing.

- Specifically in regions of Israel, there is a risk of injury or death from munitions

- Reported in Israel, (but no doubt also in other countries), Thai workers have experienced both physical and sexual abuse.

- The job requirements are age and gender-discriminatory.  (Note that from my own experience, the most hard-working Burmese general workers are female).

 

My Thai brother-in-law worked hard in Israel for 5 years.  At the end of his contract, his employer refused to pay the salary due to him and his colleagues, got them jailed for 'visa-infringements', and then got them deported from Israel after 3 months in jail, penniless after working 'for free' for their scum Israeli employer for the past 5 years.....

They were big in PH years ago with huge scale. almost every city and village had a story. Big time.

   They have new Labour laws in Israel to stop that happening and they are quite strict and favour the workers , even if they are working illegally

Have to replace a 18.000 workers from Gaza ( yes, that so-called prison, where the israeli's arre committing genocide at a speed of 45.000 per year. The Nazi's did the same amount per day, with close-to-nobody to escape) and a 120.000 from the West bank ( also a prison).

 

I remember me going with Israeli's from kibbuts Ein Harod Ihud to a Palestinian wedding, on the West Bank, and them coming to the swimming pool of that kibbuts, all in 1972. And in 1983 visiting an Iraeli "chicken docter" to be called in the middle of the night by two desperate Palestinian farmers for their mama-donkey in giving birth problems.

Close to zero problems, but HAMAS wanted DEAD Israeli's...

I think, the chance of dying in Bangkok traffic is bigger as being killed as Thai civilian in Israel by military means.

A slight difference with the "volonteers" from North Korea on the Ukraine front.

   Did you just see the word "Israel" in the thread heading and you had a flashback about a donkey giving birth in 1983 ?

All that will accomplish is that even more Thai workers will end up getting killed in Israel.

 

The Thai government should at the very least ban these recruitment tours.

And.. your brother-in-law went to an Isralei lawyer and brought that Israeli employer into court ?

A good friend of me since 1972 and Israeli lawyer brought thousands of workers from TH, Vietnam Philippines ( by co-incidence all non-Muslims) to Israel. So, send me a message at info  @  thaitrade  dot nl

I know reading is dramatic difficult for some people.

Maybe I just mentioned some examples of good cooperation and neighbour-behaviour before the Intifada there.

Bye-the-way: I remember the festivities after the birth at these farmers a lot more. We were "stuck" there over a day.

    Its up to the Thais to do what they want to do , why do you think that you should be able to tell Thais that they cannot go abroad to work ?
