A crash claimed the life of a 28 year old man early morning of November 3, after he lost control of his pickup truck, veered off the road, and struck a tree. The impact of the collision threw the driver from the vehicle, causing him to land in a nearby waterway, where he was found dead.

The accident took place around 04:40 in Ban Non Sanam, Huai Kha Subdistrict, Buntharik District. Rescue teams from the Buntharik Rescue Unit were quick to respond, retrieving the driver’s body from the water channel. The man, identified only as “Suriya” (surname withheld), sustained severe injuries to his head and limbs, leading authorities to investigate whether he had died on impact or drowned after being knocked unconscious.

Local law enforcement, led by Police Lieutenant Somporn Akkabut from Buntharik Police Station, reported that the driver was heading back home after visiting a female friend in a nearby village, around 30 kilometres away. Suriya’s mother, Ms. A, said she had warned her son not to return home late due to the risks of nighttime driving. However, Suriya reportedly left his friend’s home at around 04:00 shortly before the crash.

The wrecked Isuzu D-Max truck, bearing Nakhon Nayok registration plates, was found crashed against a large roadside tree on the Buntharik-Huai Kha Road. The front of the vehicle was extensively damaged, with no signs of collision with another vehicle, leading investigators to suspect that driver fatigue may have been a factor. An autopsy will be conducted to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role.

The victim’s mother, grief-stricken, stated, “I told him to be careful and not come home so late, especially since it’s dark and dangerous. But he didn’t listen.” Preliminary assessments from police and the Buntharik Rescue Unit indicate that Suriya may have dozed off at the wheel, resulting in this fatal crash.

The authorities continue to investigate the cause, urging drivers to be mindful of their physical condition and avoid driving under fatigue.

Do you have any idea how fast you have to be speeding to do that much damage?! Why do pickup drivers think they are driving a Ferrari? Good Gawd!

A Thai is allowed to dream... hope he enjoyed his last dance with the g/f.

Ferraris normally end up in two pieces. Edit: Did I mistake that for a feature of Lambos?

you know absolutely nothing - but you are ruled by your own prejudices.

Which are fueled by repeated reports of drunk drivers crashing, killing themselves or others..

This happened at 4:40am...   newbee is probably right...  But if you don't want discussion while the burden of proof is absent, you are news sites you can read one which people cannot comment... After all, this is a forum designed for discussion.....

We'll never find out of course, and so the debate here will continue without knowledge and you'll argue that we should not speculate...    and I'll repeat that this is discussion forum, these events are a daily occurance and related to drunk driving...  another poster will pop up and state that it was becasue of speeding etc etc...

We're all ruled by our prejudices... you are ruled by your prejudice that you think everyone else is prejudice...   :whistling:

A road incident in Thailand occurs between the hours of midnight and 5am and you suggest there is no 'reason' to suspect booze was involved....     I agree that suspicion involves prejudice, but its far from short of reason...

Meanwhile, given the abudnant news articiles of DUI incidents at night time in Thailand, your objection to the assumption that booze was involved is weaker than it would be had the incident occured at 3pm or in the UK or Germany...  Prejudice, yes, but that prejudice does not exist in a vaccum....
