Rental prices are decided by market rates , its what tenants are willing to pay .

If a landlord puts his property on the market for more than market rates, then he wont get any tenants

His comment sounds like the precursor to some kind of government interference in private rental prices.

Labour would love that. More state control.

Have Labour announced that they will be building these new homes ?

Probably.

It's easy to promise though. Look at Sadiq Khan and how he is getting on.

The way Labour has broken most of their election promises since gaining power, who really cares what they promise at this point?

I wonder how thai people cope, with no handout

the moo baan I lived for 15 years, saw rent increases from 25.000 baht just after covid, to 40.000 baht now, for exactly the same old houses

And the moobaan I live in (all 3 bed detached), the rents have dropped from 10kbht/month in 2014 to 9kbht/month today.

And the shack rooms available everywhere are still priced at 1k5bht/month.

Its a problem for landlords in the U.K as well .

When disagreeable unpleasant tenants move into a house , other potential tenants refrain from moving into the area and landlords have to reduce the rent for their properties  , which attracts other disagreeable tenants , before you know it, you have fridges and sofas in the front garden and the Police visiting on a weekly basis

I absolutely would support rent controls.

Of course you would.

The trouble is, as house prices and the cost of maintenance increase, so do landlords costs. So there comes a point at which rents also need to increase or it is not viable.

But then I presume you'd also support the government buying these houses and controlling it all themselves, like a communist state?

Do you have a link to the applicable human rights laws?

lol if you want to know so much why don't you use Google? The human rights lawyer taking it to court has more knowledge than me

Did they just say that they are going to build new homes or have they actually put those words into motion ?

How far have they got in building these new homes ?

Where will they be built ?

You’ve never built a house have you?

Here’s a tip if you decide to do, it takes time, a lot longer than 4 months.

Unfortunately that also applies when you don't drop the rent.

I recently had to evict a tenant who was causing the police to turn up a few times a month for beating up his Ukranian girlfriend.

Another tenant had a St Bernard jump out of the second storey bedroom window (through the closed glass window) and land in the front garden.

Very difficult to find decent tenants in the UK now. They are so protected by the law that they feel they can do what they want, trash your property, be antisocial etc. and the courts generally side with them.

It wasn’t me who claimed the existence of a human right to buy privilege:

“If the government is not providing adequate education then buying privilege's is a human right.”

You also need to start building it. Instead of promising to do it to win an election and then changing your mind.

I am a builder, I spent my life building houses .

How far along have Labour got in building those new houses ?

Bought the land ?

Got the plans drawn up ?

Or are they just still thinking about doing it ?

Read my post again and stop taking it out of context it clearly contains the reference to it from the lawyer. :saai: I see you've already started your habitual dishonest debating again.

I’ve no idea, and less idea why you are asking me.

But taking you at your word, this life building houses surely taught you houses don’t get built in 4 months.

You’ve listed only some of the steps, non of which Labour could undertake until in Government.

A bit of a challenge to enact policies before winning an election toon, don’t you agree?

Certainly more challenging than lieing about not needing to raise taxes then raising them by 40 Billion.

The second part of that sentence did not add context.

But here you are if it helps with your pedantry.

  Yes, they could have .

In Four months they could have bought the land to build the houses and get the plans drawn up and maybe even began building the houses .

How far along are they in building the houses ?

I expect that they've done nothing at all and the houses won't get built

More likely they'll promise to start in 5 years time, right after they are comprehensively removed from power by a furious electorate.

So no arguments then from you about the previous 14 years of failure to deal with the housing shortage.

But you want it fixed in 4 months.
