Retention Crisis in UK Armed Forces as Families Warn of Impact from VAT on Private Schools

What's the point of UK taxpayers funding the armed forces if they can't even stop 10s of thousands of foreign Orcs invading every week on dinghys?

They can stick their poppies where the sun don't shine!

Defence my <deleted>!

They're almost as bad as the pigs

Labour will prove themselves to be bigger grifters than the Tories - just as Tony Bliar did with his wars for personal payola

Citizen Smith bamboozled again!

"Over 2,000 military personnel, most of whom are in the army, rely on the CEA provided by the MoD, which covers up to 90% of school tuition fees. However, even with the MoD’s help, families are responsible for a minimum of 10% of the cost—an amount that can still reach tens of thousands of pounds per year."

Is anyone really going to turn down a 90% subsidy on their child receiving elite private education for the sake of a thousand pounds or so?

Unlike state schools private schools are classed as for-profit businesses. I'm rather surprised they're not already paying VAT. Why are they exempt when other businesses have to pay?

Moreover, the Government providing these subsidies are propping up the for profit private schools.

Housing Associations and other grifters are also classed as 'Charities'.

It's a complete joke as they donate to both political parties and have MPs on their Boards of Directors.

Corruption as per usual, just less in your face than other countries

I actually miss Rishi Sunak

Rishi Sunak is another WEF / CIA type (no one remembers him from Stadford Uni when he was allegedly doing an MBA.

His job was to backstab 2 elected PMs

and

Clear the way for the Marxist Staliner

Sunak is a real treacherous POS - just as bad as Starliner

If it is such a good job, why don't YOU sign up and take it on.

When did I say it's a good job?  What are you talking about?  I think you've let emotions rule over logic here.

Then YOU can go home in the morning and explain to your wife that you are going on deployment, but you don't know where or when, or even IF you you will be home again. If you are lucky you may have time to visit your child's school to say goodbye to them.

People who have no idea what they are talking about really annoy me.

This is all very nice, but it's a job you take on voluntarily, knowing exactly what you are getting into.  There's no conscription.

Still waiting to hear why this means you need private school rather than state school.

In my 25 years of service, the longest I ever stayed in the same place was just over 3 years and the shortest was less than 2 years. Most of the time I had no choice in where I was sent.

That was from 1960 to 1984 and I believe it is worse now. It not only affect the serviceman or servicewoman but their wives and children.

And YES, they pay their taxes and NO they don't, in your words of ignorance, scrounge from the lower orders . Most of them come from the lower orders as you so quaintly and erroneously put it.

Many of them work unsocial hours, do shift work and are paid NO extra for doing that, are on call 24/7 and are expected to put themselves in danger, so that whiners like you can sleep safely and whine about how hard you are done by.

How is it 'service'?

UK armed forces LARP about the world and only get active in illegal unjust wars (e.g Iraq, Libya, Ukraine.

As for 'National Defence' your lot can't even stop dinghys from invading the UK!

And the taxpayer has to foot the bill for all this nonsense - as well as your inflation proof pensions

Should hang your heads in shame rather than moaning & playing the victim

The real victims are the UK taxpayers

Apparently some of us on here have no idea of what goes on in the real world. Still living at home with mummy perhaps, and getting their information from social media and "influencers".

You obviously have no idea of what it's like in the forces. No one that isn't in it has any idea of what it's like, and that includes people joining up.

I usually respect what you have to say, but you are wrong on this.

Squaddies are as Kissinger said: "Dumb animals" - paid muscle for the corporations who fund our politicians.

They/You should take a long hard look in the mirror - you're just helping politicains rip off taxpayers for the benefit of the military industrial complex and other corporations.  'Service' my arse

Fannying around playing action man and adding ZERO VALUE for taxpayers.

What's the value of UK 'armed forces' if they can't even stop 10s of thousands of foreign Orcs invading every week on dinghys?:

ZERO VALUE

"i caNT do nuFfIn aBOut dinGhies bUt wiLL kiLl aNy fOrinERs pOllaTITioNs tELl mE tO"

Should get proper jobs or just go on the dole like the rest of the bloodsuckers - at least that'd be honest.

What do you not understand about "the forces are not allowed to stop the illegals unless the government tells them to". Take it up with your MP.

None, the State doesn’t provide such organized child cruelty.

What an ignorant claim. Just shows how little you know on the subject. There are plenty of Council run boarding and residential schools in the UK, some main stream and some for special educational needs. However their quality of overall 24 hour care can be lacking and the councils have relied more on the private sector to provide some excellent ones. OFSTED and other regulators report on them. I would check facts before coming out with such misinformation and false claims about them being organized child cruelty.
