Why did Jeff Beck call Jimi a god? Why was Jeff so in awe of Jimi?

Dear Folks,

Jeff was better than Jimi.

Therefore, what was it about Jeff that hindered him from truly understanding his true greatness, while he was alive, even though he was greater than Jimi?

Was it Jeff's humility?

Jeff was not especially humble, and also not proud.

He was just right.

Therefore, why was Jeff so in awe of Jimi, when Jeff could play rings around Jimi, anytime he wanted to.

Was it Jeff's lower-class roots?

Not being able to afford a guitar when he was young, which caused him to misconceive his own greatness, relative to the far-inferior Jimi?

What is a Jimi, anyway?

A jimi, or Jimmies, just like a Hendrix, looks sort of like these....

Or, these....

image.png.635b73b76936c93f3fde9f684f304f4c.png

Except that Jimi was more of a chocolate color.

So, the question begs....

Why did Jeff, of the Yardbirds, see himself as any less, and not greater, even, compared to Hendrix?

I guess you might scratch your head, even wondering about this.....important question....

Jeff was just better.

Jeff was amazing.

So then...

Why, Oh Why, did Jeff not know this, down deep in his soul?

I really wish he had.

Jeff was the greatest guitarist that ever lived.

Fortunately, we still have this great recording at Ronnie Scott's by which to remember him:

And, anybody who is anybody....

Has the full recording, of the full show, as do I.

Beck was just BETTER than Jimi.

Sometimes guys who try harder, just end up playing better.....

And, this is why, even rental-car companies...end up doing better....when...

They think they are No.2.

I just hope that Jeff Beck will ALWAYS be remembered for being....

Number One.

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: The YouTube videos of the Jeff Beck performance at Ronnie Scott's are garbage.  If you want it, you will need to search for it....might take some time....

Jimi Hendrix = garbage

He may know how to play the guitar 100 miles an hour, but that type of playing irritates me anyway.

Here's a quote from Jimi:

Jimi Hendrix once said, "When I die, I want people to just play my music, go wild and freak out, do anything they want to do."

So basically, his music is just designed to get people to do drugs, act crazy, don't take responsibility for your life.

Exemplified by Purple Haze, maybe his most famous song.

And the lyrics go like this. So his music leads to misery.

Purple haze, all around
Don't know if I'm comin' up or down
Am I happy or in misery?

As I think I mentioned....

Jeff is far greater.

I wish that I didn't know that either Beck or Hendricks existed. Useless information only clogs my brain, and knowing about Hendicks must have prevented much useful info residing in my brain. Beck is reasonably easy to ignore as his band was never that popular, while I had the misfortune to be assailed by Hendricks constantly on the radio till such time as he departed on his last tour across the great divide.

I never did, nor do I know now, why Hendricks was so popular, other than everyone was a pot head.

I still listen to Hendrix not so Beck. Jimi wasn't just a great guitarist. He was a singer, song writer, and a dynamic performer. Jeff Beck had no charisma and unless you were into long guitar solos, he didn't have that much to offer.

There was a story about Jimi after he moved to London. One night Cream asked him to perform at one of their concerts. After the song was over, Eric Clapton left the stage shaking and said, "Nobody told me he was that Effing good."

Great guitar players come a dime a dozend. As such they admired each other, knowing well that their talent to write good songs were basically non existant.

Without the talent to write songs one can only remain as a" good craftsman". Hendrickes "Hey Joe" is the only thing that will remain of his efforts. Becks efforts have been long forgotten as they were without significance. Just a good guitar "craftsman".

duuuhhhhhhhh !

it's a lot easier for people that can actually play guitar to understand this  ( Ive been playing for 58 years )

Hendrix was innovative, daring, raw, exciting, sexy, and mystical.  he opened the door to the future and led the charge

and fact .  he couldn't or didn't play the same song the same way two times in a row and technically was not a book trained or theory knowledged musician.   It all came from his soul.  To see and hear live what passed thru his fingers and Strat's can not be put into words.   Calling him a God, is well, just and understatement!

Hendrix didn't write Hey Joe

and yet I changed the channel when he was on. I guess god is only god in person.

I think the reason I dislike so much of the 60s and early 70s music is that I wasn't permanently stoned. Being off one's head is a necessity to like Led Zeppelin <deleted>

Hank influenced so many English lads in the 60s.

This channel is created by born again Christians, I think.

But whatever. Christianity aside, the point is that Hendrix was not just a master guitarist.

That type of music has a certain effect on people listening to it.

It amazes me that people who are musicians their entire lives don't understand this and only talk about the talent someone has.

This music is part of a cult. That's why they called it "Electric Church".

And one of its intentions is to initiate people into drugs.

Great guitarist, yes. But also probably ruined a lot of people's lives. As a lot of people who go to these concerts end up being drug addicts.

Was he possessed? Yeah, maybe not. Maybe that doesn't exist.

But he admits that music is designed to hypnotize people and preach into their subconscious.

Anyway, I'm not saying you need to pick up a Bible and agree with everything in this video, but some things he mentions have some truth to it.

Jimi Hendrix = crap

Did I miss any mention of Jimmy Page?  I didn't think he was all that, and that painted-on smile gave me the creeps.

I like Hendrix, Electric Ladyland lives on.  His first two albums became the primer for a whole new generation of rock performers.

I still like JBeck too.  Check out one of his later albums from 1989, Guitar Shop.

And then there's Roy Buchanan: Sweet Dreams, fella.

Does anyone like Hendrix that doesn't use large amounts of weed?

50 years ago, not now, rather have single malt and an opioid! The Hendrix museum in Mayfair was well worth a visit although he only lived there a few months. It was really his gf flat Kathy Etchingham. She had her head screwed on and it's a pity he did not stick with her.
