A collision occurred in Chiang Kham District, Phayao, in the early hours of November 16, when a 16-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a car after the driver had lost control.

The Siam Phayao Foundation, located in Chiang Kham District, received a distress call around 01:50 alerting them to the incident in Chiang Ban Village, Moo 3, Chiang Ban Subdistrict. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and found the teenager unconscious and unresponsive.

According to rescue personnel, the young victim had fallen off his motorcycle, in an area of road construction, with no other vehicle involved. As he sat on the side of the road awaiting for medical response, a car came around the corner, with the driver losing control and the car rolled onto its roof on top of the youth.

The casualty suffered severe head injuries after the car struck him and pinned his body underneath. Despite their best efforts, including the use of hydraulic rescue tools to raise the car and first aid, the victim was declared dead at the scene.

The Siam Phayao Foundation personnel also administered initial first aid to the car driver who had remained at the scene and only sustained minor injuries

The local police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash and the car driver was taken to the police station for questioning.

How is this possible, coming around a corner and lose control of a car, unbelievable was the driver on drugs or alcohol?

Don't be silly. You come around a corner and there's a motorcycle already crashed and you try and avoid it. An inexperienced driver might panic Who knows what they did to cause it to overturn.

Very tragic accident. and again the car probably was on a high speed or the driver under influence of his phone, drank or drugs... How can you miss a motorcycle on the road as you turn around the corner ??? What are drivers doing in their cars??? Rip the boy and condolences to his family and I hope the driver will get a severe punishment for manslaughter

What is the average speed when you as an advanced driver take acorner?  The driver shouldn't do anything but drive the car, and pay attension.

The story would be a little more clear if we actually stated who said this !

Unmarked roadworks.

01:30 in the morning.

Motor cyclist 16 years old.

Car driver lost control possibly going way too fast and trying to avoid road works.

Plenty of things to go wrong.

How fast can you go around a corner with a car?

That's a question akin to how long is a piece of string.

Generally I tend to go round corners on the assumption that someone has built a wall out of sight across the road and I need to be doing a speed that I can stop quickly without losing control.

Easy - if the driver was driving using "crossed arms" to turn the wheel. I have seen this many times in Northern Thailand. Can lose control.

Crossed arms causing loss of control ???...   I'm often surprised at some of the stretches of the imagination used on here to explain various behaviours - and this one is right up there !!!

Motorcyclist lost control after hitting road works.

Driver, approaching quickly, also lost control at the same point and rolled into the motorcyclist.

It would seem car hit the same road works causing the loss of control...  perhaps unmarked road works, which is not uncommon here at all... mess from the road works, gravel on the road etc leading to skidding...

What about ice ??... ok ok, not in Thailand....  Oil all over the road then.

There are situations whereby we can easily lose control of a vehicle due to and unexpected surface.

I recall driving over in Chantaburi / Sa Keaw area...  the road had recently been resurface, not with asphalt, but concrete.... but astonishingly, some genius has made the road extremely smooth, not the usual rough concrete.

... It was raining and I hit that stretch of road at a fair speed...  Then saw the signs (in Thai - slippery surface) - it was slick, but fortunately very little traffic - I was scared to touch the brakes and just slowed down gently, I could feel how slippery the surface is.

In this case - due to the road works, I suspect the road surface may have had gravel and debris all over it...  which first caused the rider to come off...  then caused the car to lose control and skid.
