   I disagree .

Use a dodgy agent , they can avoid complying with the rules .

Could even be that immigration are making the rules more stringent for the sole purpose that people use the dodgy  agents

Disagree about what?  Key word again: Reputable.

Been using TikTok in Jomtien for years.  Never had an issue.  Same as many other satisfied customers.

Professional and prompt.

All rules complied with except waiting in lines with sweaty people.

This year is different.  I applied for and was accepted for the BOI LTR Wealthy Pensioner 10 year visa.

Don't hate me because of that.

As Immigration allow entry to those people on tourists visas , then they aren't doing anything wrong

Depends on which immigration officer is looking at it.

Regarding the guy in question, it's plainly obvious ' he's been playing the system '  which is all well and good, until somebody decides it isn't.

He should be applying for a Non 0 as nobody spends 17 months on holiday, he knows it, and they know it.

Depends on your history in Thailand, the longer and more sketchy, the higher the price.  I think it starts around 1500-2000?  After that the sky is the limit until the agent tells you they can't help you.

2K to 3.5K - maybe 500 Baht more if long history, per this agent-post:

They utterly ruined it for those who adhered to what were then very lenient regulations.

It looks like the same will happen with the DT Visas. Making it a pain in the backside and so much harder for decent folks who screw the bobbin and adhere to the regs

You mean, when Immigration "ruined it," by denying entry for false-reasons, to  push folks into agent-assisted visas, crazy-priced "elite" visas, and agent "pre-clearance" (formerly called "VIP Service") for serial visa-exempts?

That move caused entire blocks of shops in tourist areas to go bankrupt - more with each "crackdown" - but they got their envelopes, which is all they care about.

I did not get a tourist visa. Some cursory research on Youtube quickly showed that immigration officers would just again pull the "you lived here too long and you're not a tourist card" and that tourist visa would have been useless.

With the gracious, generous help of another forum member I was able to enter LOS legally anyway.

I will follow the advice to get a retirement visa.

Details?

Well, it was a very tricky situation. When I got to Malaysia the Malay immigration guys were joking "Wow, these Thais are strict", and as they put their stamp in my passport one of them wrote in hand "Deported" above the stamp. Which was firstly not true, as you know you have to be let in to be deported, I was denied entry, but secondly and much more importantly, most airlines who see a "deported" in the passport are not too happy to take you to your destination as they'll bear the cost possibly to bring you back if you're denied entry.

So I had that problem. Then doing some research I saw on youtube some guy who had a tourist visa STILL being denied entry because they said he'd stayed in Thailand too long, even though he had the tourist visa. So it was clear that applying for that was a waste of time.

As I had nightmare visions of having to stay in the rainy gray and depressing hell hole that is KL I decided to browse these forums. And lo and behold I came across a thread where a similar problem was discussed and one forum member in particular had mentioned how he had gotten into Thailand again. I contacted him and he kindly put me in touch with the people who had helped him.

It cost a fortune, I still got proper return flights, not dummy tickets and I thought I was basically clear as  I'd printed out the boarding pass using the app of  Malaysia Airlines and passport check is automated in KL. However, just before boarding a MAL lady asked if I had a return ticket. Luckily she didn't check the deported stamp in the passport, and I had a return ticket. So I made it onto the flight back to Bangkok.

Then once in Bangkok the people who I had arranged everything with ensured I was cleared through immigration very quickly.

So you used an agent for guarantee entry to Thailand even visa exempt.

This is outlined in ASEAN Now forums. .

Your lack of  involvement in thread caused issue.

I can post links to agent assistance at Thai airports.

Cost? Guessing 5k-  7k ?

I did not even know such a thing exists, only reading on here did I find out.

Good guess, plus flight to BKK, flight out of Thailand, all in all, it was 20000, as I also stayed one night in BKK and then took a bus back to CM as I did not intend to make even visual contact with CM immigration at the airport.
