Patong punch-up: Foreign man swings at loud restaurant worker

A foreign man physically assaulted a Thai restaurant worker in the Patong area of Phuket, reportedly due to annoyance at the worker loudly inviting customers into the restaurant.

 

The Phuket Times shared screenshots from CCTV footage of the physical assault today, November 18. However, the exact date of the incident has not been reported.

 

“A foreign tourist acts like a thug, suddenly assaulting a Thai restaurant worker out of annoyance when the victim promoted and invited customers into the shop.”

 

In the screenshots, the foreign attacker, dressed in a white tank top and white trousers, was seen walking along the street outside the restaurant with a foreign woman in a blue dress. The couple held hands and initially appeared to walk past the restaurant.

 

 

However, the foreign man stopped, turned back, and confronted the male restaurant worker. He pushed the worker against a pole outside the restaurant and attacked him. The woman in the blue dress witnessed the incident but did not attempt to intervene.

 

According to Phuket Times, the foreign attacker was allegedly annoyed by the Thai worker’s loud calls to attract passing customers. As no CCTV video has been publicly released, the exact motive for the assault cannot be confirmed.

 

Many Thai netizens urged the restaurant worker to file a complaint with the police to bring the foreign attacker to justice. Others called on the media to provide further details, including a video of the incident, asserting that merely shouting to attract customers should not have led to such violence.

Agressivity is palpable everywhere.

Thais really are stressed out af there.

The town has a terrible vib to it these days.

 

Bangla road sucks @ss now btw.

It's not even a proper redlight district anymore.

More like a sh/tty tourist trap.

 

Hopefully things will get back to normal at some point.

Otherwise I don't think the island as a bright future ahead....

I’ve walked out of a few restaurants due to inconsiderate male Thais.

Playing Youtube videos without earbuds.

Talking & screaming excessively loud when at dinner!

Thai/ falang children being allowed to 

rule the roost , as if it was a playground atmosphere.

 

Best to just walk , you never know

what the natives will pull out on  you, machetes, knives , guns !

Unfortunately, what you are describing here are everywhere today. Society has lost all perspective and respect as well as dignity. Today, just everyone goes on doing what they want without any care for the surroundings and other people. Many in our population has today become uncivilized trash.

So they post a photo.. Even in the story it says the reason for the foreigner man doing that could not be confirmed. Yet, they released the story without any confirmation. Is this a foreigner bashing story? Meant to outrage and infuriate the Thais to seek revenge and justice for something that may or may not have happened recently and may or may not have been incited by the restaurant worker? 

 

I have seen and heard many times insults by these types of workers cat-calling to customers walking past and when ignored they begin to insult and harass the person or people walking past simply because they did not stop for them. 

 

So I beg to ask, why would the news service put such a story without any shred of evidence that knowingly would outrage Thai Netizens and could even prompt a violent reaction against foreigner tourists for behavior that was or wasn't justified?

Met one yesterday (same shorts and T-shirt look) on the way back from picking up my daughter at school, I was stopped at an intersection with a traffic cop directing traffic. A BMW M5 pulls up next to me over the yellow line facing oncoming traffic next to my car (I'm like what?), I assume he was trying to cutoff the oncoming traffic to turn right into a parking lot that was there, NOPE! Soon as the guard gave the OK for traffic in my direction to move, he floors it into the intersection as we are moving forward, almost hitting the traffic cop/guard and the side my car as he cut me off. He then goes about 150ft and slams on his brakes in front of me and gets out of his car and approaches me (all 5 ft 9" of flexing gym ape - tattooed everywhere). Soon as he got to my window, I asked him "are you F&%King stupid?", he then sees I am not a scrawny 150lb Thai that he can intimidate, mumbles under his breath and then heads back to his car as I told him "learn how to drive you "F&%King idiot". Maybe he should go back to the Russia and head to the war front and show the Ukrainians how bad*ss he is.....LOL

 

My daughter asked me "Daddy, why does he look like a monkey?"  ......I almost died laughing!!!

Theres some unhinged characters in these area's of high foreigner footfall...     

 

Utter idiots...   the whole vibe of these areas now seems 'edgy'... but to be honest, places such as Patong have always been more edgy than others, the many Thai's in these area's seem on edge and impolite, many foregiens behave the same way... 

... Its as if there is a double stigma where both show resentment and disregard for those around them which makes things worse.

This was in Muang Thong Thani right behind the Impact Arena Convention center in Nonthaburi, was actually surprised to see it was a foreigner.

My bad - jumping to the assumption that we are more likely to encounter idiot foreigners in areas such as Pattaya and Patong etc...

Doesn't look like the  traffic cop was too happy, as this morning they put up cones down the center yellow line approaching the intersection to stop this type of stupidity. I hope traffic cams caught him and they pay him a visit.

So it appears they caught this guy, and fined him a whole 500 baht (and maybe a wai), and the attack wasn't over loud noises, it was because he was "under the influence of alcohol".....who would have guessed?
