Popular Post Georgealbert Posted Tuesday at 05:46 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 05:46 AM Pattaya police are investigating a violent assault on a British tourist, which occurred on Pattaya Third Road in the South Pattaya area, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District. Upon receiving the report, officers from the Pattaya City Police Station coordinated with rescue volunteers from Sawang Boriboon Foundation to respond to the scene. The victim was found intoxicated and suffering from multiple injuries, including a broken nose, a bruised left eye socket, and facial bleeding. Scratches and abrasions were also observed on his body. Rescue personnel provided first aid before rushing him to the hospital for urgent care. Eyewitness Rattaphon Rodson, 41, a community police volunteer, stated that he saw a white pickup truck, make and model unknown, dropping the injured man onto the roadside. A Thai male was seen leaving the vehicle. The exact cause of the attack remains unclear. Other witnesses reported that the victim may have been traveling in a taxi, possibly a ride-hailing service like Bolt. However, due to the victim’s inebriated state, he was unable to provide coherent details about the incident. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from the area and along potential escape routes. Authorities are working to identify the perpetrator and ascertain the motive behind the assault. Should the suspect be identified, legal proceedings will follow. The investigation remains ongoing. That's a disgusting attack on someone who was most likely unable to defend himself. I will pray that your in a similar situation soon. 3 1 1 2 2 1 5

Popular Post marin Posted Tuesday at 09:05 AM Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 09:05 AM Two sides to this story for sure. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2904777/drunken-briton-injured-by-good-samaritans-on-ride-home A British tourist, too drunk to get into a taxi, ended up in a fistfight with two Good Samaritans who volunteered to drive him home in the early hours of Tuesday in this eastern seaside tourist town. Muang Pattaya police and rescue volunteers were called to Pattaya Sai 3 Road in tambon Nong Pruea of Bang Lamung district at about 3am, where they found a man aged about 55-65 sitting on the pavement. He had sustained a broken nose, a bruised left eye, bleeding on his face and some scratches on his body. Rescuers provided first aid before sending him to a hospital. A witness identified only as Rattapon, a 41-year-old police volunteer, reported seeing a white pickup truck pull over and a Thai man drag the Briton out. Other witnesses tried to ask him what happened but received little information due to his intoxicated state. The men, who are technicians at a night entertainment venue in South Pattaya, admitted to assaulting the Briton but claimed he had attacked them first and struck their pickup truck. Police said they would check footage from security cameras around the area where the incident took place and question both parties to ensure fairness. According to Mr Manuchchai, the Briton was drinking and appeared intoxicated at a bar on Soi Bua Khao. When he attempted to get a taxi home, no drivers were willing to take him. Moved by pity, he and his friend volunteered to drive him, but the passenger became loud, aggressive and tried to attack them. "We tried to calm him down, but he refused to listen and forced us to turn into the wrong lane," Mr Manuchchai said. "When we pulled over, he struck our truck, causing damage." "He started a fistfight with us. We had to leave him on the roadside. Things escalated, and we traded punches, with both sides getting injured. After the incident, we drove away, not expecting that the police would be looking for us. We want to assert our innocence. We were attacked first despite our good intentions to take him home." Popular Post Georgealbert Posted Tuesday at 09:26 AM Author Popular Post Posted Tuesday at 09:26 AM UPDATE Technicians Admit to Altercation, Claim Self-Defense Two men, identified only as Manuchchai, 30, and Jakkrit, 28, arrived at Muang Pattaya police station to report the assault incident. Both men, technicians working at a South Pattaya entertainment venue, admitted to assaulting the tourist but alleged they acted in self-defense after the Briton became aggressive. According to Mr. Manuchchai, the British tourist had been drinking heavily at a bar on Soi Bua Khao. Unable to secure a taxi, the men volunteered to drive him home in the early hours of November 19. However, the tourist reportedly became loud and aggressive, attempting to attack them. "We tried to calm him down, but he refused to listen and forced us to turn into the wrong lane," Mr. Manuchchai explained. "When we pulled over, he struck our truck, causing damage. He started a fistfight with us. Things escalated, and we traded punches. After the incident, we drove away, not expecting the police would be looking for us. We want to assert our innocence. We were attacked first despite our good intentions to help." Police are reviewing security footage from the area to determine the sequence of events and ensure a fair investigation. Police will continue to investigate the incident, interviewing all parties involved and analysing CCTV footage to establish accountability. -- 2024-11-19 1 3 1

In my working years, I lived in, worked in or visited many, many cities across the globe. The nine years I lived in Pattaya as a retired person were among the safest I experienced anywhere. I don't think being drunk, even sh*t-faced, is enough in and of itself to get you in trouble in Pattaya. A drunk tourist or expat, whatever his nationality, will have to pick a fight with someone for things to turn violent. Exceptions may exist, but they are rare, very rare. 1 1 4

May I also say that I hope the same happens to you and that you post the event on here, including pictures. You'll probably provoke somebody into doing the same to as well, thereby deserving such a beating, yes? And we can gloat just like you over your misfortune. 2 3
