Email today from YT saying I must use a Thai card for payment. Problem is my two banks here won't allow it. ....ie Bangkok and Krung Thai.

Anyone out there using another Thai bank card?

Cheers

I am currently paying Western pricing for YouTube Premium, but next month, I plan to switch to Thai pricing. I’ll be using my Bangkok Bank Mastercard Visa Debit card, and I’ve already confirmed with Bangkok Bank that there won’t be any issues.

Your issue may be that your cards are not Visa/MC.

Alternatively, you can use TrueMoney Wallet, which allows you to top up with any local debit card. This could be a solution if your current bank cards don’t work.

I got same email. Surprised it took YouTube so long. I switched from UK credit card to Kbank debit card and Google were able to authorise a zero baht transaction. Hopefully when they try to take the 179 Baht next month that will also get authorised.

I recently signed up using my Bangkok Bank Visa debit card.

It was no problem at all. I did have to verify with a code they sent to my phone though.

I had wanted to use my Kbank Mastercard but I needed to register first with Kbank and for some unknown reason that failed to work. That was a Kbank issue, not youtube.

Mostly to avoid ads though there are other benefits such as playing videos in the background on your phone. I suppose there are free workarounds, but as the Thai price is only under 200 baht a month you do get to feel righteous that you're helping to pay the content providers that you watch.

Fair enough.

Thanks

I have a Thai Credit card and it works fine (Bangkok Bank) as of now... however, I have had issues from time to time where something gets rejected and I have to call up and ask them to allow charges from a specific site (I had to do that with Amazon Japan) - especially those that don't use the 6 digit verification code on ordering.

How much difference in pricing of YT Premium between Western and Thai?

I got the same message from YouTube.  Signed up for YOUTUBE Premium here, but was using a credit card from an American Bank to pay. My SCB Mastercard now works to make the payment, I had to "switch it on" thru the SCB App to allow it both to be used for online payments, and also international payments.

Why do you guys pay for YT premium ?

I'm curious.

I mainly use it for Youtube Music and podcasts on my Google Home and the family use it for ad free videos.

I chose Apple music which is a montly cost of 139 baht.

This is so good and is the best 139 baht I spend a month.

Thanks folks. I reckon my Bangkok Bank card needs to be "switched on" for use online. I've never used it for online stuff.

A visit to the local branch is required.

Indeed, using a foreign credit card or a Paypal account linked to one for YouTube payments is not possible.

I opted not to use my Bangkok Bank debit card to avoid cluttering the bank book, which is necessary for my visa extension, with minor subscription fees.

Hence, I turned to True Money, which turned out to be quite the hassle and, in any case, it's no longer an option for YouTube payments.

Ultimately, my only choice was to use AIS, which proved to be a dream experience.

Also ony 85 Baht.

YouTube Lite offers a subscription at half the cost of Premium, yet it provides only limited access to Premium features, which may not meet everyone's needs.
