Sleep aid for a long flight

I suffer from IBS and my doctor prescribed me 10mg amatryptaline for long flights so that I don't have to keep going to the toilet. You maybe know that Amatryptaline in larger doses is an antidepressant but has a side effect of calming the bowel. So it is prescribed and works as such in a a lower 10mg dose. It also seems to work with me as a sedative and over 18 years has always helped me sleep on my flights to and from Thailand. And It is available over the counter at pharmacies in Thailand. My flight routine is a can  of beer before the in-flight meal, a glass of wine with the meal and then take my amatryptaline with 400 mg ibuprofen to kill the pain of the sleeping  in seat yoga...555.

Yeah 1mg does nothing for me.

I take 10mg daily, prescribed.

My flight TRAVEL TIME to USA run between 28 to 34 hours.  I manage to get sleep in tourist class because the last LONG legs are over the Atlantic to Chicago OR over the Pacific to Chicago and then a short hop to Cincinnati.

ok, this is off (my own) topic but one day…ONE day, in our lifetimes, there will be direct flights between BKK and the U.S.  It was close a few years ago, from what I understand, but alas….

Airlines stopped providing Chang on flights as It caused to much of an issue when the punters wanted to sit on the steps in the A380...

Anyway... I can imagine the scene...  upstairs on the Emirates A380, putting on the flight attendants hat and having your photo taken in the bar...   Tell me you never did that !!!!

 

....  But my reference was to Chang drinkers sitting on the steps of a 7-11.

Amitriptyline is effective and very cheap. It does tend to leave you lethargic the next day. It's also pretty strong. I would have to split it, 3 mg would be quite sufficient. 400 mg of ibuprofen I also find excessive. 200's fine. Ultracet (or Duocetz, from public hsps) is good, might could just go with that and skip the "Ami," as Thais call it, and the ibuprofen.
