(Organic) Pasture-Raised Eggs - where to buy?

Anyone buying Pasture-Raised or Organic Pasture-Raised eggs? Where do you buy these from in the Pattaya City area? Didn't see any being sold at Big C. Haven't checked other supermarkets yet. What about normal markets Thai people shop at?

Where I live you can buy them in any supermarket but I am in the west

I didn't know what Pasture-Raised eggs were so googled it. First two stores listed were well known Villa Market and Tops supermarket

Makro have organic eggs under their Aro brand and one other brand.

Yep. I should've added a question mark. I was wondering if it's the same thing. Turns out it's not. Pasture gives more space per hen.

It's not the same as free range. Free range means they only have a tiny door with access to go outside for a set period of time, if the hens so choose to.

Ok, after searching online for Tops, Villa, Big C and Makro, there are no Pasture-Raised eggs for sale by any of the supermarkets. On Tops there comes one labled as Pasture-Raised but when you go to the Youtube video of that farm producing the eggs, it's clearly a lie as they are shown to be locked up while only eating grains, they have nowhere to roam. Seems to be impossible to find any Pasture-Raised eggs in Pattaya.

Tops at Central Festival has free range c chicken eggs from Hill Tribes.  Something like that.  Actually, they have all sorts of different kinds.  I never paid too much attention.

I have tried most of the so called free range eggs in the supermarkets......I have not been that impressed with them......I now buy eggs in the Soi Bukow  Tuesday Friday market...The eggs there seem to me to be the best around........I dont know if the eggs are free range or not.......But they are pretty good eggs........

 

I have been buying my eggs in the market for about 4-5 years now....

Didn't you ask for organic eggs? They have these in Villa Market

I was after Pasture-Raised Eggs, either being organic or not organic. But would prefer if they were Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs. There are 2 egg stalls there.....I buy from the one with a nice young lady selling.....

 

They have all sized eggs there......The eggs are not very expensive.......I have never seen duck eggs there...

 

Give the eggs a try......You very well might like them.....If not no need to buy again....

My Thai is very poor but from what I understand, the girl told me the eggs came from their farm....The eggs are too imperfect to come from Makro...

 

If anyone speaks better Thai I would like to know more about the eggs there..

Big C (Sapan Kwai) in Bangkok sells hilltribe-raised true free range chickens. According to the label, anyway. Presumably Big Cs in Pattaya do too.

If you want to really try somthing "Organic" buy some eggs at Phala Fishing Village near Sattahip, the hens are running around everywhere. One slight drawback, the eggs taste of fish.

Once tasted, never forgotten😝

I buy the cheap eggs sometimes to save money.

Because a eat a truckload of eggs.

I mix the cheap ones with some pricier ones.

Better ones have more orange / darker yolks.

These are sold by Villa Market in Bangkok. I guess the same should be true in Pattaya...

Big C, Makro, Foodland, Friendship all have organic free range eggs and I'm sure there are other outlets. I buy the Hill Tribes brand. But check the bbe dates. Generally people buy the cheapest, so factory, caged versions sell the most.

No, you can't. Factory eggs just packed in a fancy looking box with "Organic free range" printed on the outside, and who's to know? I'll stick to buying what it says on the box though.

That's an interesting comment. There don't seem to be any laws governing what is and isn't "free range", "pasture raised" or even "organic". It varies country to country and even then, there's no real consensus. I won't buy CP is my first rule. They are the kings of factory produced food. Also, they're almost 100% Chinese. Check out the Chearawon (aka Chearavont) family (the final 't' is silent in Thai, and the 'v' is a 'w'.) And they readily admitted to using slave labour in their prawn and seafood supply chain.

I always buy duck eggs there.

There is only a small stall with a young lady.

 

She sells both ducks and hen eggs.
