Russian Naval Ships Dock in Thailand for Indo-Pacific Diplomatic Mission

Two high-capability Russian Navy corvettes, RFS Rezkiy and RFS Aldar Tsydenzhapov, docked at Juk Samet Pier, Sattahip Port, as part of a goodwill visit and diplomatic mission in the Indo-Pacific region. The visit is a key component of the Russian Pacific Naval Task Group’s ongoing mission to strengthen naval cooperation and conduct joint exercises with regional forces.

 

Admiral Nattaphon Diaowanik, Commander of the Royal Thai Fleet, officially welcomed Captain Alexey Antsiferov, Deputy Commander of Russia’s 36th Primorskaya Division Pacific Fleet, during a reception aboard one of the Russian vessels. The event, held to foster diplomatic and military ties, was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Thailand, Evgeny Tomikhin.

 

During the visit, the Russian Navy will engage in joint naval exercises with other Indo-Pacific forces, focusing on enhancing regional security and strengthening maritime partnerships. The goodwill mission underscores Russia’s strategic interest in the Indo-Pacific and aims to build trust and collaboration among participating nations.

 

The presence of the RFS Rezkiy and RFS Aldar Tsydenzhapov, equipped with advanced weaponry and state-of-the-art technology, highlights the operational strength of Russia’s Pacific Fleet. The mission reflects Russia’s commitment to maintaining an active role in regional maritime affairs.

 

This visit marks another chapter in the deepening of Thai-Russian relations, with both nations emphasizing the importance of maritime security and regional stability. The Russian Naval Task Group’s journey will continue across other key Indo-Pacific destinations, further fostering international naval cooperation.

Americans lose every direct conflict they enter. Best they stay home and provoke wars by proxy.  Let Israel and Ukraine do the dirty work. 

 

How many countries have kicked American a ss in the last 100 years?  The most recent group was a nation of goat herders.

That nation of goat herders kicked the ass of Russia long before kicking the American one. 

 

This is the official toll of the Russian military campaign in Afghanistan: 14,453 Russians killed (total), of which 9,500 killed in combat 4,000 died from wounds 1,000 died from disease and accidents. Plus 53,753 wounded and 312 missing.

 

This is the official list of Coalition casualties in Afghanistan: 3761 Coalition soldiers killed (3,621 deaths as part of the Afghan operations, plus 18 CIA operatives, 59 U.S. and one Canadian soldier killed in other countries while supporting operations in Afghanistan, 62 Spanish soldiers returning from Afghanistan who died in an air crash in Turkey).

The United States lost a total of 2,459 military personnel in Afghanistan, plus 18 CIA operatives. Of this figure, 1,922 had been killed in action. An additional 20,769 were wounded in action.

 

As usual, Russia didn't spare human lives, thrown in the battelfield as mere cannon fodder (Russian rulers always enjoyed the bloodbaths suffered by their unfortunate subjects). Russia suffered four times greater casualties compared to the American led coalition in Afghanistan.

This is no surprise: it's a tradition since WWII, in which the Soviet Union lost from 8.8 to 10.7 million military personnel (the number vary according to the source), while the Allied lost 1.2 million soldiers, while fighting both on the Western European front and  on the Pacific one.

To give a wider, albeit different perspective about the toll of the Soviet–Afghan War (1979–1989) & the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021), refer to -

In the Soviet–Afghan War, it should be noted that it is estimated that the Soviets & the Mujahideen lost less than 100,000 fighters each killed in action.

However, guestimates of civilian casualties (no-one will ever know) are –

·        Civilians killed ≈ 1-3million

·        Civilians wounded ≈3million

·        Civilians displaced externally ≈5million

·        Civilians displaced internally ≈2million

In the War in Afghanistan (2001–2021), which lasted about twice as long, it is estimated that the Coalition lost less than 100,000 fighters, whilst the various Taliban, al Qaeda, ISIL & local Afghan groups lost over 55,000 fighters.

Civilian casualties –

·        Civilians killed ≈ 70,000+

·        Civilians wounded ≈200,000

Conclusion: The ones who got their bums booted were the civilians. Do not go to war with the Russians, or the Coalition, in Afghanistan. The ones who made a “killing” (pun intended) were the weapons manufacturers.

I cannot see the point of the Russian visit, who will “engage in joint naval exercises with other Indo-Pacific forces, focusing on enhancing regional security and strengthening maritime partnerships” in an endeavour to emphasize “the importance of maritime security and regional stability” when they are doing nothing of the kind in their Russo-Ukrainian War.
