Denver's nut job mayor to head the resistance.

So the mayor of Denver is threatening to turn the place into Tianamen Square backed by "Highland" moms. I guess they must wear kilts? Sound ferocious. I hope that would Hohman said will come true and these people that are in leadership are charged with felonies if they aid and abet illegals or obstruct justice.

9NEWS asked the mayor several times what his plan is on day one if federal forces or national guardsmen from other states show up in Colorado. He said right now there is no plan, but city leaders are hoping to come up with one before the inauguration in January.

Looks to me like a decent thing to do. In 20 years time many books will be written and many movies will be made about such acts of resistance.

America will then be reborn.

Obama deported millions of illegals, over 412k in 2012 alone, did this guy protest about that? It seems OK when they do it, resistance for resistance sake.

Colorado began that slide when the were one of the first states to legalize weed. I have nothing against weed but this made every worthless stoner in the USA move there. The only thing more concentrated than the THC was the stupidity of those chasing it.

As a professional stoner, I agree.

Can't blame Trump anymore so you blame weed?

Quantum leap that one is.

Pmsl🤣🤣🤣

Reborn into a third world hellhole rife with crime and violence.

I thought it was already that in some places.

Political rhetoric and some crafty MAGAites realizing that people like Mike Johnston are a threat to the MAGA manifesto.

The mayor is popular. He is young, white and happily married with 3 kids. Not even the slightest hint of scandal attaches to him. A graduate of Yale and Harvard, he is also a lawyer with deep community roots in a community distinguished by a large latino population.  In order to calm their fears, he offers his words of defiance. Denver cannot afford a mass panic, because the businesses that rely on these workers would have to shut their doors. Who then would clean the floors at the hospitals, or change the diapers in the  nursing homes? The slaughterhouses would shut down.

The reality is that the local police cannot  enforce immigration laws. Nor can they stand guard on county borders unless it is to enforce a local law. The state can always take control of the police department if there is an issue. The mayor is representing the people of his city and his powers are limited to civic issues.

Local authorities sharing information and other means of cooperation with  federal agencies is NOT enforcement.  This happens to be standard practice with many police departments.

And what does the education and lifestyle of the mayor have to do with this?

Sounds perfect,

Truck all the illegals to Denver, then build a wall around it to keep them in.

Everybody happy, and no need to spend any money on deportation.

Texas should send all busses with illigal immigrants to Denver instead of NYC. If they think it's a good thing, you have to give them more of it.

Actually I saw NYC is busing illegals back to Texas.

I have never heard a reasonable explanation off why you would willingly let anybody and everybody in unvetted, even during a pandemic.

Not just willingly letting them in but actively encouraging them to do so.,

Oh please have a heart

These poor people need help and we should embrace them with open arms

The point is that the Denver mayor is not the stereotypical activist. He is not some imagined third world radical with an odd sounding name who can be accused of eating the dogs and cats of his cities. He is as suburban white bread as they come and his wife is assistant district attorney who prosecutes juvenile offenders. He can recite all the crime stats and data of his city and state  and prove that the exaggerated claims of an immigrant crime wave are false. Trump agenda supporters see the man as a threat because he is well spoken, tough, popular, and intelligent. His having a beautiful family and being blessed with dashing all american good looks must upset them to no end.

Although, I am not surprised at your inability to concentrate on anything without a picture and not written in a  "Dick & Jane " style, I see no need for you to share your lack of cognitive  ability.

The words demonstrate the limited intelligence of those who propose simplistic solutions for a complex problem.  Are you even aware of Presidential Proclamation 1077 that changed the threshold rules? Migrant advocacy groups have been protesting against the Biden administration because of this proclamation amendment.

Unauthorized entrants who are apprehended are screened within 24 hours of apprehension. Almost everyone who crosses without authorization is generally ineligible for asylum, absent exceptionally compelling circumstances. In order to stay, they must show a credible fear of life reason to remain. If they cannot remain, they are removed as soon as  they are processed. This is the vast majority of people.

The people who are allowed to remain pending a hearing must show a fear of life basis. Anyone considered a risk is fitted with a tracking ankle bracelet or is detained. If they violate the terms of the permission to remain, they are subject to immediate removal from the country. If they are allowed to remain, in accordance with the US treaty agreements, then they are not "illegal".

If the intent is to deport unauthorized entrants, why put them on buses to Colorado? The current rules are to immediately remove them. Why are you now asking that they be allowed to stay?

If you really are serious about dealing with unauthorized migrants crack down on the US nationals who smuggle them and who profit from their exploitation. Arrest and punish the contractors who drive through the migrant day labour zones in AZ, NV, CA etc. looking for cheap day labour. The migrants would not be able to come to the USA and to live there unless they were enabled.
